“Excellent Flight”
Review of Allegiant Air

Reviewed 1 April 2018

After an amazing outbound flight, I had high hopes for our return flight and was entirely blown away yet again by Allegiant. After an amazing five day vacation in the sunshine, it was time for us to return to Newburgh. When we first arrived at Punta Gorda Airport, dropping off the rental car was the easiest experience I have had at any airport I have traveled through. Once the rental car was settled, it was a quick two minute walk into the terminal. Once we arrived in the terminal, dropping our bag was a seamlessly easy experience. There was an abundant amount of agents and we were all set in a matter of minutes. The check in attendant was very kind, and was very knowledgeable. After exiting the check in area and joining the security line, it became a hectic experience. Security was a complete and utter mess. I could not figure out if this was because they were not TSA officers and instead were hired officers, but they were very rude and were barking orders at passengers who were merely just trying to get home. They ended up splitting up our family into different lines which thankfully was not that big of a deal, but was nevertheless unnecessary. I will say that if you are traveling through Punta Gorda at a peak time, alot yourself plenty of time to get through the security line. Our flight was leaving at a high traffic time as there were many flights that were departing and arriving. Once we passed through security and entered the terminal, I was surprised by how modern and clean the departure area was. There were plenty of seats and massive floor to ceiling windows that provided breathtaking views of the tarmac. There is a single food, beverage, and souvenir merchant in the departure area which ended up having just about everything one could need. Settling in to the gate area, all was going well until an arriving aircraft had a medical emergency. This inevitably threw off operations and every single flight had to be assigned a different gate. Despite this unexpected occurment, the ground crew worked very diligently to ensure all of the outbound flights remained on time. I was very impressed by the diligent work of the ground crew as all of the departing flights remained ontime without any service interruptions. Soon, it was time for boarding. The gate agent was very helpful and got everyone on their way as soon as possible. It was so cool to be able to walk on the tarmac and go up the stairs. There were two staircases for passengers to use. Thus, the boarding process went by very smoothly and everyone was onboard in a very quick and prompt fashion. Upon boarding another Airbus A320 aircraft I noticed a very foul odor. Thankfully, this odor did subside but this aircraft was definitely not as clean as the one servicing our flight to Punta Gorda. The flight attendants on this flight were fun, and quirky and worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable and settled. One thing that I did find to be slightly of a nuisance was the flight attendants unwillingness to create a buffer zone due to the peanut allergy. They did mention it was simply airline policy, and not wanting to make a fuss I simply nodded. I was confused as the flight attendants on the outbound flight were more than willing to accomodate our allergy needs. About three hours later, we touched down in a very cold and bitter Newburgh where we were able to deplane, and reclaim our bags promptly. Overall, I had yet another excellent experience with Allegiant, and will for sure be traveling with them in the future.

My flight was delayed for 7 hours. They gave us $50 voucher as if that is some type of compensation. It was not worth the money I saved nor the stress of wondering if I’m going to be able to take my family on our yearly vacation. Also keep in mind that if your flight is cancelled you can’t get another flight for days!

For our family vacation this past December, we decided to explore the Gulf Coast of Florida, as we had never experienced the West Coast of Florida. Because we had waited last minute to book our travels, flights were limited and many were very expensive. When I first discovered Allegiant's Newburgh to Punta Gorda route, I was a tad spectacle after hearing horror stories about the airline. Needless to say, I am so happy I decided to give Allegiant a try. The price was excellent and I had my expectations set in advanced. Allegiant was most surely not my first budget airline rodeo, and I was certainly aware of the additional charges. Nevertheless, I arrived at Newburgh Airport early and there was absolutely no line for check in. I did expect this mainly because it was Christmas day and many had already flown out. After a brief wait in the cozy check in lobby, an agent appeared and was ready to assist the slowly growing amount of passengers that were waiting to check in. Once it was our turn to check in, I was entirely blown away by the agent assisting us. She was truly so kind hearted, and you could tell that she wanted to help and make everyone's experience as pleasurable as possible. After dropping our bag and proceeding through security, we made our way to the gate area. The gate itself was definitely in older condition, but I did expect this considering Newburgh's airport as a whole. As we were waiting in the gate area, the two gate attendants did make an announcement stating that everyone's carry on bags would have to be checked to make sure that they met the size limitations. Both of the gate agents were very kind and patient through the entire process and made sure everyone's carry on bags were accounted for. So far, I was blown away by the professional, and kind hearted staff. Soon, our aircraft arrived and I was blown away when I saw a brand new Airbus A320 aircraft arrive. Soon, it was time to board and the gate agents helped to ensure the process was easy and stress free. Soon, we walked through the jetway and entered the aircraft where we were greeted by a very cheerful, smiling and all around pleasant flight attendant. She was awesome, and did everything she could to ensure we were comfortable. As we walked down the aisle, we were greeted by other cabin crew members who were each very very kind. They greeted us warmly, and made sure that we were settled in for the 3 hour flight. Because the aircraft was new, it did have slimline seats. When I sat down, I was entirely shocked. I found that the seats were very comfortable, and found the padding to be much more supportive than other comparable budget airlines. The airplane was also incredibly clean and well presented. After everyone was settled in, we departed Newburgh for our Christmas flight south. The flight attendants were amazing, and were very cheerful and made the flight very festive. Besides from being very cheerful, they truly wanted to help their passengers. For example, a girl sitting in the row near me lost her phone during takeoff and was anxiously trying to find it. As she was trying to find it, a flight attendant got on her hands and knees and helped find the lost phone. The flight attendants were also amazing with food allergies. As a sufferer of peanut allergies, flying can be tricky and sometimes stressful. The flight crew was amazing and communicated with each other so they were all uniladeraly informed. They not only informed the passengers in the rows around me, but one took it upon herself and wiped down my tray table. Yes, you just read that. The entire flight crew checked on me countless times throughout the flight to make sure I was comfortable and okay. Later on, we touched down on Punta Gorda's runway and came to a fast stop. As we deplaned, the flight attendants said their goodbyes and continued to assist passengers. The Punta Gorda airport is tiny, and it was empty by the time we arrived. The only one complaint I have about this airport was that the one terminal attendant became overwhelmed when the baggage carousel broke. It took much longer then it should have to reclaim our bags. Besides from this, I had a genuinely awesome experience on Allegiant and there is no doubt I will be traveling with them again in the future.

This was the most disgusting plane i have ever been on. We were more than 2 hours delayed (no estimates, just sit and wait). The plane had maintenance issues so they switched us to a different gate and plane. It smelled like dirty rags, the seat was covered in goo and the floor looked like someone threw up a year worth of crumbs on it. Will not be flying this airline any time soon.
