After an amazing outbound flight, I had high hopes for our return flight and was entirely blown away yet again by Allegiant. After an amazing five day vacation in the sunshine, it was time for us to return to Newburgh. When we first arrived at Punta Gorda Airport, dropping off the rental car was the easiest experience I have had at any airport I have traveled through. Once the rental car was settled, it was a quick two minute walk into the terminal. Once we arrived in the terminal, dropping our bag was a seamlessly easy experience. There was an abundant amount of agents and we were all set in a matter of minutes. The check in attendant was very kind, and was very knowledgeable. After exiting the check in area and joining the security line, it became a hectic experience. Security was a complete and utter mess. I could not figure out if this was because they were not TSA officers and instead were hired officers, but they were very rude and were barking orders at passengers who were merely just trying to get home. They ended up splitting up our family into different lines which thankfully was not that big of a deal, but was nevertheless unnecessary. I will say that if you are traveling through Punta Gorda at a peak time, alot yourself plenty of time to get through the security line. Our flight was leaving at a high traffic time as there were many flights that were departing and arriving. Once we passed through security and entered the terminal, I was surprised by how modern and clean the departure area was. There were plenty of seats and massive floor to ceiling windows that provided breathtaking views of the tarmac. There is a single food, beverage, and souvenir merchant in the departure area which ended up having just about everything one could need. Settling in to the gate area, all was going well until an arriving aircraft had a medical emergency. This inevitably threw off operations and every single flight had to be assigned a different gate. Despite this unexpected occurment, the ground crew worked very diligently to ensure all of the outbound flights remained on time. I was very impressed by the diligent work of the ground crew as all of the departing flights remained ontime without any service interruptions. Soon, it was time for boarding. The gate agent was very helpful and got everyone on their way as soon as possible. It was so cool to be able to walk on the tarmac and go up the stairs. There were two staircases for passengers to use. Thus, the boarding process went by very smoothly and everyone was onboard in a very quick and prompt fashion. Upon boarding another Airbus A320 aircraft I noticed a very foul odor. Thankfully, this odor did subside but this aircraft was definitely not as clean as the one servicing our flight to Punta Gorda. The flight attendants on this flight were fun, and quirky and worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable and settled. One thing that I did find to be slightly of a nuisance was the flight attendants unwillingness to create a buffer zone due to the peanut allergy. They did mention it was simply airline policy, and not wanting to make a fuss I simply nodded. I was confused as the flight attendants on the outbound flight were more than willing to accomodate our allergy needs. About three hours later, we touched down in a very cold and bitter Newburgh where we were able to deplane, and reclaim our bags promptly. Overall, I had yet another excellent experience with Allegiant, and will for sure be traveling with them in the future.
