Took Air Canada (AC) flight 342 from Vancouver to Ottawa on October 28, 2024. Direct non-stop YVR-YOW flights are rare in Canada so you grab what you can get.
First, their entertainment system did not work. My screen at 13A was white with a red arrow circling round and round. The screen for 13B was black. The crew "tried to fix" the entertainment system. It worked for 40 minutes. Then ALL seat screens were black for the remainder of the flight. What is wrong with the electrical system on board this aircraft? Who knows. AC does not say. Their Customer Care says they “apologize for the inconvenience”. Ha!
Second, the window between seats 12A and 13A had condensation between the acrylic panels because the seal was broken. Nothing could be seen thru the accumulated frost/condensation between. So what else is wrong with this 787 “Dreamliner”? Another who knows, not saying. This window problem was obvious before takeoff but never addressed. Leaves passengers wondering what else is wrong with this flying (for now) piece of junk.
Third, a "PRIORITY" tag was placed on my bag as I checked in at Vancouver. This is a joke, right? My bag was one of the last slammed onto carrousel #3 in Ottawa on October 28, 2024. This is "PRIORITY"? Nor was this the first time. My bag was in the final quarter of bags offloaded in Vancouver on October 22, 2024. This is hardly an 'oversight' or an 'accident'. It is a regular occurrence with AC. Their contract with the baggage handling company is a farce.
In summary, on one flight, AC 342, they managed to not have a functioning entertainment system, to operate an aircraft with a defective window and to ignore 'priority' baggage. That's three for three. Way to go, Air Cannot!
