Our travel agent booked us through Air Lingus and got us a really inexpensive flight to Dublin. We had never flown with them before and after reading the reviews we were apprehensive.
Pros: Great ticket price. We were on a new plane, had paid extra $35/ea. for extra legroom and priority seating. The aircraft was clean, the Aer Lingus staff on the plane were friendly and we actually enjoyed the flight. They also provided free meals for international flights. (On shorter connections within Europe you pay from menu choices). Food was okay, ..could be better. Free movies too.
Cons: Long wait time when you call Aer Lingus with questions; be prepared for a 30 minute plus wait to get someone on the phone.
Also, sometimes they use 3rd parties at their check in desk. We found them to be less than friendly and not as informed.
as the real Aer Lingus employees. This lady tried to send our bags to our final destination even though we let her know we would had a 2 day stopover. Watch them at check in!
Also a suggestion: never book tight connections with Aer Lingus, as we found out on our return flight back to the USA. Their desks aren't staffed very early, you may be dealing with a 3rd party checking you in, and they changed the gate on us at the last minute...almost missed our connection.
Overall, makes for affordable international flights, but needs to improve their customer service in a big way.
