“New direct flight from Durban to George”
Review of CemAir

Reviewed 15 December 2024

Tried out CEMAIR for the first time on a return flight from Durban to George. Service was friendly. The plane is old, so seats could not lean back, making a nap during the 2 hour flight well nigh impossible. At least complimentary tea, coffee, drinks and sandwiches were available. So glad to be able to fly directly to George instead of via Johannesburg.

I booked this flight due to needing an early booking last minute to go to a funeral.
Checking in was a dream! Fast, helpful and efficient.
The plane was small but clean, smooth flight and there were drinks and good snacks served.
The air hostess was friendly, fast service and everything went smoothly.
The seats were comfy. I loved how it was 2 seats and then 2 seats. Nobody was stuck in the middle.

I have just referred CemAir to family due to my amazing experience.

I am PISSED! Luggage declared as fragile was completely ignored and valuable possessions were completely ruined. I declared the luggage as fragile. I explained the content. A fragile sticker was put on it. The moment my bag came, I could see the residue of a different colour on it. After opening the bag, my suspicion was confirmed. Crushed and ruined. Do not say you can offer a service if you can't.

I was a bit concerned with the reviews, but taking in mind that people often only review places or services when they’re unhappy, I thought I would give CemAir a chance and am very glad I did. My experience was amazing flying from East London to Joburg. All of the airline staff were helpful and friendly. CemAir is also the only domestic airline that allows pets (10kg or less) in the cabin. I took my cat with me on the flight and it was the best experience. I will definitely be flying CemAir again (with or without her). Just note that if the flight is fully booked, pets may need to be transported in the hold due to limited space. You also need to book your pet in at least 3-4 days in advance of the flight and meet vaccine (rabies) and pet carrier requirements. Otherwise, the price of flights is reasonable and includes checked luggage and snacks. Our pilot was also clearly experienced as the take off, flight, and landing went very smoothly despite ongoing thunderstorms. I had my toddler and cat with me (on their first flight ever) and neither were disturbed or scared throughout. In fact, both napped.

If you want inconvenience fly with Cemair. Firstly our flight to Capetown was delayed, we ended going with a different smaller plane we couldn’t all fit in so other passengers were left behind since they ddnt have seats. Now when returning they cancelled my flight without notice. I only found out 2 days before departure from Airlink since it was my connecting flight that my first flight with Cemair is cancelled. Upon enquiry with Cemair they did comfirm that the flight is cancelled and I can fly on a different date or get a refund. Am still waiting for my refund and thats another issue. AVOID CEMAIR AT ALL COSTS
