I’ll try to make this clear but it’s convoluted. My wife and I planned a 5 night trip to Key West and booked with Jetblue to get there on Silver from Fort Lauderdale after flying from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale. I love Jetblue!! Silver changed their schedule before we left and there wouldn’t be enough time to make the connection after arriving in Fort Lauderdale.
I contacted Jetblue and we were booked on Silver from Jacksonville to Tampa then to Key West. So far so good. The return itinerary remained the same. Key West to Fort Lauderdale on Silver, then Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville on Jetblue.
We arrived at JAX an hour and a half before our scheduled departure and the Silver counter was completely empty; not a living soul there. One of the nice people at the Jetblue counter informed us that a Silver employee would appear when boarding time was imminent. Hmmmmmm. No one else was waiting for our Silver flight. Finally, a somewhat surly Silver employee appeared and informed us that the plane was about to depart and that we had missed it. Ok. I had read enough of their reviews to know that they pull this stuff, so I go to the American Airlanes counter and book two one way fares to Key West vía Miami. I wasn’t going to drive two more hours to return home.
We get to Key West, have a wonderful time, and 48 hours before our return trip I go on-line to check our return itinerary. Lo and behold......the Silver leg from Key West to Fort Lauderdale has completely disappeared.......just our Jetblue leg is showing! Ok, so I go on American’s website and purchase two one way fares back to Jacksonville via Miami. Ok.....now I can get back home.
I called Jetblue, thinking I’ve learned a life lesson. I really didn’t think they would compensate me any for their partner airline’s screw-ups but to my surprise and my everlasting gratitude, after putting me on hold for about seven minutes, Jetblue issued me a credit for the entire amount I had originally spent booking our trip!! I love Jetblue!
Silver Airways.........I’ll stay away from forevermore. I still don’t know how their flights are. I’ll never know. Screw ups going and screw ups coming! Be forewarned.
