“flight staff seem unhappy”
Review of WOW air

Reviewed 28 June 2018

The cost of the ticket with the XXL seats weren't much cheaper than IcelandAir's fares. The flight staff didn't seem like they were happy, and it wasn't very organized at Keflavik when we were returning. The reason for a lower rating was that even though people purchased the XXL seats for more leg room, we didn't get XXL seats. Luckily, there were a couple of honest people who told the flight attendant that they didn't pay for the XXL seats so we were able to switch with them. Unfortunately, there was a guy behind us who had paid for an XXL seat but did not get one (I hope he was compensated for his uncomfortable flight). On our return flight, I tried to confirm with the person who checked us in that we were getting XXL seats. She didn't seem to know and her response was "they should be because they are close to the front of the plane". She even asked to see proof that I had paid for the seats which surprised me because I assumed it would've been in their computer system.
Next time we will try another airline

Worst customer service ever. Cancelled flight to Dallas and dumped me in Ohio in the middle of the night. Not met by anyone from WOW till 3 a.m. No help in getting home. Finally bought a ticket on my own to Dallas. After two weeks, the bags eventually showed up, and only after I called wrote and email a dozen times. Applying for compensation is a nightmare. The "simple" forms which WOW requires one to file out are not simple. The whole enterprise is a Catch 22. You need a booking number, I am told. There is none. WOW sends an email saying the booking number is on the email. It is not.
I cannot tell if these actions are intentionally or negligently plain stupid. WOW's customer service if offensive. The money saved by booking WOW was and is not worth the effort.

If you can get a great cheap fare it might be worth it! Super strict about the size and weights of your (one free) personal item and purchased carry-on items; so make certain to measure and weigh beforehand! I purchased a WOW-comfy for my 6'2" husband and it was great for 2 of the flights, but the 2 returning he was stuck in a regular eco seat; which they are small and tight! Bring your own - everything! No pillows, blankets. Other extra amenities including entertainment or water and limited food/beverages are available for purchase on the flight, but really pricey. We were late departing which made for a tight connection both ways; thankfully the planes waited for us as we had to rush through the terminal in Iceland. You have to go through a passport check point and proceed to the gate. Our bags made it and we had no problems otherwise. The staff was kind and efficient.

We traveled with WOW Air in december 2016. The journey to Reykjavik from Amsterdam was allright. Any extra's come with costs so be mindfull of that. The trip back was a whole different story. We had an early morning flight so needed to check in during the night, but we knew this before hand ofcourse. At arrival at the airport we found out we had a delay, this delay kept on getting bigger and bigger. Finally we had a little over 4 hours delay, and where super tired. Back at home we found out through our travel agent that we could make a claim for compensation, so we did. We got a reply about one year later, so this was quite the wait. The reply said that they would pay up, and we had to give some extra information. So we did within like a week. And then it was waiting again, half a year later we finally got the money on our account. In the mean time our travelagent did call a couple off times to enquire after the proces, and didnt have good experiences with the costumer service.

The prices are quite cheap though.

Started off with the nasty check in agent, Preston, at PGH airport forcing us to pay for checked bags stating our bags did not fit in the carry on sizer, even thought it was broke, stating that the bag was bulging out. Nasty with an attitude Preston said that we can go to the gate with our bags, but he was going to be working the gate and would make us check our bags at the gate which would cost more. Apparently this is his M.O. as other passengers who were on this flight said the same thing. By the way, bag was as a carry on on the return flight. Wasn't even asked to put it in the bin. Our return flight was delayed by several hours. After arriving we were rushed off the plane,to the gate only to be put on a bus waiting to go to plane. We waited on bus for 30 or so min. waiting for other passengers from 4-5 other flights that were also delayed. We weren't given time to go to bathroom or get any food or beverages before we got on the plane thus forcing us to pay the exorbitant prices on the plane for food and water. On this flight, the seats that we picked and PAID for were not the seats that we were assigned. We both picked isle seats but we ended up in the window and middle seats. We complained to WOW Air about getting charged the bag fees, but has not been resolved, as I don't expect much to happen with that. We tried WOW thinking it would be cheaper, as they advertise low fares, but with all the add on fees wasn't really any cheaper than other airlines. Only chose for them for the convenience of flying out of Pittsburgh. Flight attendants were really nice but just not enjoy the stress of the delay worrying if we were going to make our connecting flight and being charged for everything including having to check bags that fit in the carry on bin. Not a great way to start off a trip. Probably would have gave more stars if wasn't for the nasty Preston at Pittsburgh airport. Can't stress this enough.
