Except for the lack of a window, the inside cabin was very similar to all other cabin types. It was tight but adequate with lots of well thought out storage and a great bath with shower. A lot of good planning went into the room design. That exact same bath and storage seems to be standard with most cabin types. The queen bed had about 18" on the sides and maybe 24" between the foot and the TV wall.
I found the (32"?) TV an reasonable alternate "window" with a choice of front or rear views. It seemed to be 1080i...4K would have been even better. There are ports on the back of the TV for HDMI and USB but the remote didn't have any apparent way to access those ports, so I didn't try. Compared to the Zaandam old TV's, this was way better! My cabin on deck 7 was very quiet all times of the day.
As the COVID 19 spread around the world, it was dissapointing just how little serious guidance was given to passengers. The Lido was changed to serve from self serve. They recommended we stay 6 feet from someone caughing but few tips for those doing the caughing. Some were still caughing with no protection for others or only into their now unwashed hand. (Hard to change old habits.) They did station someone at each of the hand washing/sanitizing stations to strongly encourage everyone to use them as they passed. No masks were ever seen.
For anyone interested in the Koningsdam from March 4, 2020 to at least April 1st, the cruise director, Christine LaVonna, has a Facebook page that a Google search of her name will find. She has many interesting updates. It does appear the claims of "healthy ship" made during our cruise are still true 14 days after my cruise ended. I wish HAL did a better job of keeping us informed of all details including positive ones like this!

I have sailed with HAL for sixteen years and this time it was a dreadful experience! Service & provisions are bare minimum. HAL cut out a lot of things, small & large, that used to make it to stand out of all large cruise lines. Smell of cigarette smoke from the casino spread out through the ship. YUK! Cabin was barely cleaned: dust all around, dirty drapes, poorly planed furniture, TV signal was bad, TV programs are old and uninteresting. Plus, had to get creative to watch TV because the angle it was hanged. Who planned that? Smell of urine and sticky floors in the bathrooms, toiletries that were supposed to be provided on daily bases needed to be ask for, shower size is too small. Restaurants food and choice of dishes subpar. No art show as before, no movie theater. No Royal Tea event. No passed passengers appreciation event. Neptune lounge had minimal choice of appetizers and snacks. Package "have it all" is bate and switch: free wi-fi did not work, choice of excursions was limited, found nothing interesting, lost $100 per person allowance as was not permitted to apply to something else. Even traditional two coasters to memorize the sail was limited to one! Only two night of pillow chocolates. It is not a big deal but so petty on HAL behalf. Was looking forward to a first after pandemic cruise experience, paid nearly $8K for this rather sad experience. Apparently, HAL does not appreciate loyalty. Elena

It was our first time on the Koningsdam. It was beautiful and had so many new places/venues to explore. The staff was outstanding. Great food. Loved everything!

If you’re looking for a cruise where you can relax this is the company you’d want to go with. Go for the newest ships! But still old ships still has their charm.

We booked this cruise after my Mother in law passed away. She left all children some cash and wanted us to do something together. Over all it was a very nice cruise. We booked another cruise while we were on board this ship inNovember2019 before Covid hit. we were promised so many perks, from free gratuities, four dinning dinners, free wi fi and the beverage packages. We also had discounted shore excursions and 1500. onboard credits. Our cruise was canceled. We opted to rebook, because we were getting back 125% back. Theres where it got terrible. There was a rate increase, , this ship no longer did this 18 day cruise , all the perks were for the cruise we booked on board. None of them carried over. We did get our gratuities, and drink package and that was it. Well the, the second round go covid hit. This cruise was canceled two months before sailing. They did say we would get an additional 50.00 per person. Ohand did I mention they inflated our price of the cruise so we were getting less back. And we had to pay additional port charges. Our travel insurance was able to transfer with many long hours online , printing, faxing, and searching for stuff. When we tried to get our money back, what an ordeal. Our opinion avoid this cruise line!! We sure are!!!

This past January my husband and I boarded Koningsdam for the second time in two years. We decided to take a longer trip- 21 days on two back to back cruises to different locations in the Caribbean. We weren't sure if 21 days would be too much. We had the same stateroom for the entire trip which added to the enjoyment. Well, we would have happily stayed on board for another 21 days. Our stateroom stewards were beyond compare. The crew was, as always, happy and friendly. The food, wonderful. The music in the BB King's Lounge right up our alley! And the connection with other passengers, especially those who were also on board for the same 21 days was really special. It breaks our hearts to see the impact of COVID-19 on the travel industry, especially the cruises. And we're going to do everything we can to support Holland America when it's up and running again!
