Review of Viva Air (Peru)

The worst of every low cost airline all combined into one. Fly with Viva if you like:
- Paying about $20 to check in at the airport (PS the website doesn’t work properly and they only allow print outs, no mobile option)
- Paying extra for large cabin bags (Not checked! Of course you pay for checked bags too)
- Having your flight cancelled
- Having your flight delayed with no clear indication of how long

There are probably more surprises like these but these are the ones I experienced or witnessed first hand.

Fun fact! The three balls in the logo represent the circus that is Viva Air.

When checking in I realized our flight had been moved two hours later. No email. When I informed our friends we were traveling with she found her tickets had been canceled altogether. The airline blamed Vayamo Travel we had used and Vayamo blamed the airline. They had to buy one way tickets at the last minute and are hoping to recover some money now that we are back in the US. Their web sight was impossible, refusing to accept payment for baggage so we had to pay more at the airport. The people at the check in counter were rude and extremely unhelpful. Our luggage was put on a flight that left two hours after ours even though we arrived in plenty of time and it took them an hour and a half after we landed for them to inform all the people waiting at baggage claim. They charge for everything including water. Never fly them! I would give a 0 rating if possible.

Horrible horrible woman. After spending an hour on the phone ( with no answer from the airline) trying to message online, and empty boarding pass emails, she refused to look at the screenshots on my phone proving that it was the viva air websites fault that we couldn’t online check in. She even threatened to call the police!

Got to cusco airport in plenty of time to fly to lima to catch a plane to brazil 1 hour after. No assistance at all. Flight left an hour before scheduled time. No warning no email no nothing. Met a load of hacked off passengers also. Had to book another flight asap which cost £200 to make our brazil flight. Tried to reclaim the money but after numerous attempts were told that the information we have provided wasn’t complete. It was complete but they just strung us along for 3 months with email after email. NEVER RECEIVED ANY COMPENSATION. Worst company ever.

DO NOT USE THIS COYBOY OUTFIT. My advice is walk.

The most incredibly inefficient airline I’ve ever had the displeasure to use. Ryanair might be heartless, but at least they function.

This mob changed our flight without telling us. Twice.

Staff are (mostly) unhelpful partly because they have zero knowledge. Compensation is a myth.

Avoid.
