“Worst Airline ever”
Review of VivaColombia

Reviewed 2 April 2018 via mobile

My family flew VivaColombia on vacation from bogota. It was the worst airline experience in 45 years of flying. I paid extra for quick check-in at the airport; it took so long we almost missed our plane, about 75 minutes.

Flew return BOG<->CTG. Reviewing the return from Cartagena. Flight crew and cabin service were fine. Boarding was fine -- the airport has not jet-bridges so you walk out into the tarmac (covered by a ceiling from the rain). Punctual. The price was really attractive compared to full service airlines.

The major hiccup was the check-in at Cartagena. The website sells pre-selected seats AND checked baggage AND airport counter check-in as add-ons, which may have helped to cut down on the time at the airport check-in if there were separate lines. In my case, though, the people who had bought airport counter check-in were put in the same line as people who had not. So in reality all I had bought with the "airport check-in" was the need not to print a boarding pass at home (think Ryanair) -- while other people who had checked-in online but has a bag drop were lumped together with me in the same line.

Reasonable value. Easy to get around, though the Lima airport is a bit challenging. The service from VivaColombia was good. The crew was kind and accommodated my English only deficiency. I'd fly them again.

Do pay special attention to luggage restrictions!

Was surprised by extra charges at check-in counter for carry-on luggage. Overall, flight was pretty normal and basic economy. Got from point A to B.

We booked the Viva Super category to get some extra luggage. As it turns out you buy a flight but not a freaking ticket. The Boarding Pass costs extra!!! The unfriendly employees do not speak English. Our flight was 2h late and the only Information they gave were on Spanish even when we asked them explicitly.
In the End we paid way more than an Avianca Ticket is. Spare yourself the trouble in your holidays and choose yourself a different company.
