“Very Happy With Service”
Review of Kulula

Reviewed 13 March 2020 via mobile

I was quite worried at the start, having never flown with a low cost African Airline.
Checking in was a breeze at this small airport, which I’m so glad we used instead of OR Tambo.
Boarding was on time, seats were ‘tight’ as they are on such a flight.
The lime green, 737-800 was in good condition inside and out.
In flight service was, as expected, limited, but very friendly and efficient. The food and bev items were cheap by Australian standards of course.
The flight was smooth, pretty much in time and ‘enjoyable.’
No hesitation in flying with these guys again.

Ps- photo of return journey from CT - OR Tambo.
A much older 30 year 737-400. More tired on the inside, but no complaints at all from check in to arrival.

Departure flight was delayed on 27 February, and I missed a meeting and a lift from the CT airport to my hotel. The returning flight was okay.

I booked on Monday for a Wednesday morning flight and expected to pay more. I paid LESS than usual for this route, which was a bonus. Online check-in is very easy and the entire airport check-in process was efficient and the flight was on time. The seats are cramped, but, despite a full flight, everything ran smoothly and luggage appeared quickly. I don't usually choose Kulula, but will do so in future.

This delay was terrible and in my opinion - totally unnecessary. Firstly, the flight was delayed by just 15 minutes - due to the flight before us landing a bit late and then passengers getting off and cleaning up.

When we finally got on to plane, we were further delayed. The announcements made by the pilot was this was all due to safety. Two elderly ladies apparently had packed "dangerous goods". They first needed to check if they could travel with this, after finding out they couldnt, they then had to find the tag number for this luggage and have it removed. All whilst we sat on the plane. The flight that was supposed to land at 2.30pm... landed somewhere around 5pm in DBN. There are enough measures concerning luggage and checks to prevent something like this, if this was the first time, then the checks need be made more vigilant.

Ofcourse everyone was annoyed and tired - especially the kids and I was travelling infant, but what really got to my nerve was the little kiosk selling refreshments. Firstly I think the least they could have done was provided the refreshments for free. However, we needed to spend more money. I overheard someone requesting to buy, and the air hostess was like sorry due to SAFETY reasons, we cannot sell anything further. this was when the descend had started. I get the safety concern but it was just announced!
