Questions re the Iberostar complex.

My husband and I are interested in the Lindo.Having never been to the area I have a few questions:

Is the nearest hospital the Hospiten in Playa Del Carmen? I have an anaphalactic allergy, how long would it take to get there?

Are there many other resorts in the area, or is the Iberostar complex by itself? How far can you walk on the beach in either direction? This is important to us.

What are the differences in the junior suites and the standard rooms?

How is the air conditioning in the rooms? What internet access does the resort have?

If I book the Maya and pay more, what am I getting for the money?

Lastly, does anyone have an e-mail address for the Lindo?

Thanks

Betty

1. Re: Questions re the Iberostar complex.

The nearest hospital is in Playa del Carmen. When my husband had a heart attack though they sent him to Hospiten Cancun because it is larger they said. It took 40 minutes to get there. There is also a clinic onsite and the physician is onsite 24 hours a day (we called for a dr at 4 am and he was in our room in 10 minutes). It would take 20-25 minutes to get to Hospiten PDC.

There are other resorts in the area, but not "many". There is nothing right next to the Iberostar Grand for about a 20-30 minute walk. Then you come to Maroma Resort and some of the other Maroma area hotels (we get tired at this point and go back). You can walk quite a ways in either direction. I've walked in the other direction and after about 20 minutes you couldn't go any further.

The jr. suites are a little larger, closer to the beach and they all have sofas. The king rooms have sofas in the standard rooms but the two doubles do not. I have stayed in both types of rooms and those were the only differences. There are some honeymoon suites that have a jacuzzi on the balcony in the jr. suite area, but I don't know if this is the only area they are available.

I thought the air conditioning was completely adequate in the rooms. But I don't like it super cold. Not entirely sure about the internet access. There is an internet room with computers for a fee.

The Maya rooms are larger, all have a sitting area with sofa and chair. The decor is nicer and the bathrooms are larger 5 piece baths with a large jacuzzi. You also have access to two additional restaurants, the Japanese and Gourmet. The Lindo guests can go to the Japanese at the Beach hotel, but the Maya tables are smaller which is nicer, and lobster is on the Maya Japanese menu. The Lindo has a Gourmet also, but you can use all the restaurants at the Lindo as well when you stay at the Maya. Maya guests can also use the "wet" area of the spa (pool, jacuzzi's, therapeutic showers) at no charge. Lindo guests can only use them if they book a service or pay a fee.

Thanks Actran, for your helpful response.

Re the beach walking, when you walk past the Grand for that 20-30 minutes, do you feel safe, ie are there plenty of other people walking as well or do you wind up isolated?

Do the bathrooms in the Lindo have tubs and separate showers, just tubs, or just showers?

3. Re: Questions re the Iberostar complex.

Lindo has tub/shower combo.

We have never felt unsafe as we walked that area of the beach. My husband had run this stretch by himself as well. You pass quite a few people as you go. I would not check out the bushes because I don't like creepy crawly things. I do recommend taking water as there is nowhere to get it as you go and you will need it.

Actran, thanks again for your helpful input. Your answers are what we needed to make our decision, and we will be booking the Lindo. Yay!

They do but they don't always work. Ours were out for 3 or 4 days and we were on the third floor.
