Overweight & Dollywood

Hello. I am putting the final touches on my trip to Gatlinburg/Peigon Forge. Of course that comes along with a trip to Dollywood. My question is I want to ride a lot of the smaller coasters like Blazin Fury & things like that with my daughter. She is teeny tiny skinny. Me? Not so much. If the lap bars does not fit flush on her, can we still ride together? She is about 43' so she can't ride a lot by herself. Any help would be appreciated!!

Probably not, but you could possibly ride in the car behind her. I think the Blazing Fury is a series of cars with 2 seats each.

For perspective, I am 5'8", 260 - big bottom. (Fat bottom girls make the world go round, right?! LOL) I am able to ride with my skinny 8 year old just fine. Knees were a little squished but nothing terribly uncomfortable. The only other ride I rode was River Rampage and was also fine on that. Dollywood isn't great at catering to larger guests but you can still have a great time there!

It sounds like you've done a little homework already. Dollywood staff is usually pretty discrete about their guest "of size".

A lot of the bigger rides require guests to be 48" tall in order to ride, so you seem to be ruling them out up-front.

Blazin Fury shouldn't be an issue, Dare Devil Falls has no restraint system, Smoky River Rampage uses a velcro belt to restrain riders and they have "extenders" to accommodate larger riders, they're usually hanging on a peg on the posts near where you enter the raft, just grab one as you board, if they're not there, just ask an attendant. Mountain Slidewinder is a family ride where you're unrestrained, but there is a raft weight limit of 500 - 600 lbs (I can't recall the actual number). This is hugely fun to ride, but you will get soaked riding it, so dress appropriately.

As for the Country Fair area, many of those rides won't be an issue, Ferris Wheel, Scrambler, Bumper Cars, Swings (might be a tight fit, but should be ok) just to name a few, as well as the Train ride, which is just benches.

Thank you so much! We are so excited to go & it would break my heart to not be able to ride with her & there isn't enough time to get back on the wagon. Thank you for your insight.

I'm so glad to see this post! My son and I are going soon and I'm also very overweight. He's 40" and 3 years old so we won't be riding any roller coasters. But definitely want to ride river rampage and other things so I'm glad to see the info in here! Hope your trip is great OP!
