Had to look this hotel up. Safe residential area on a very busy street. Since you have never been to SD why are you looking at hotels in that area? Do you have an event or something in that neighborhood?

No, We were just following the Hilton brand for lodging. Out goal is to see the area sights and experience the area. We are open to any location with a a nice area to be able to get out and walk and explore. We will have a rental car so we will be basically tourist. :)

Look at the Carte in Little Italy, great location near all the restaurants and bars in LI, a couple of blocks from the Bay.

Monsaraz just opened about 6 months ago. I think they're managed by Hilton, but not owned by them -- it's a Tapestry or Curio hotel -- so their knowledge and execution of Hilton Honors benefits is probably weak (at least that's been my experience at other hotels in those two groupings). I walked through there, but have not stayed. It's a good looking, stylish property and you may have bay views from the upper floors.

The neighborhood is fine and there are some good restaurants in walking distance. You need a car or Uber to get to any tourist attractions though.

Hyatt Manchester in the Seaport area. One of the nicest hotels in SD without spending a fortune. Everything's walkable too.

OP appears to want a Hilton brand hotel.

You might be more concrete on what you mean by area sights and experience in the area. You might also say when this trip to San Diego is, and its duration. If there is an itinerary outside SD you might share that too.

The Carte or something like it is good location for many places in San Diego.

The area is safe but I'd be looking at the Hilton Bayfront, Carte, Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites Little Italy long before Monsaraz.
