Hi,99% of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops & s'markets (nice & cheap for ale/spirits & cigs if you smoke) will be open.Usually nice & warm (last year was quite windy) with many on the beach & in the sea.Beach bars open too for welcome drinks with many in fancy dress/headwear enjoying the ambience. We'll be there again but no Santa outfit this year (just hats) as we too will be leaving Boxing Day so have to have a full liquid lunch but not go too bananas or we'll miss the flight!!!! Hope you enjoy as much as many of us do every time we are in resort.Lovely place & the better beaches are a few miles from the centre near the 2 large Riu hotels about 4 miles from the centre.Hope this helps!

The Spanish celebrate Xmas with a meal on Xmas Eve, so everywhere closes early that day. Then Xmas Day itself is just a public holiday - one fiesta of many. Buses run, taxis run, and the tourist resorts function much as usual, although the capital and the villages will be quiet and closed. The exception is that some British and other foreign-owned businesses may either be closed or have special events planned subject to reservation. Boxing Day doesn't exist here.

Local kids get far more excited about 5th Jan, when the 3 Kings parade and 6th Jan, when they wake up to the presents the Kings brought in the night! That really is a quiet day. The Christmas market in El Campanario (if there is one this year) will be open until 5th Jan.

Well, the Xmas lights are going on on 24th November. Maybe then? It isn't something that interests me any more (bah, humbug and all that) so I'm not sure.
