Hi -
I'm planning to attend the Big E this weekend and since I know I can not get an early start the traffic is going to be crazy. Any advice on back roads or ideal parking areas that will help me avoid some of the traffic, etc?

67 helpful votes Hi, if you are coming from Boston, get off the Pike at Exit 6 - the Springfield exit, as you come thru the tolls, head straight to the lights, turn left on Rt. 290, follow 290 until you see the signs for West Springfield, Rt. 20 West, follow 20 West, you will cross over the North End Bridge onto a rotary - take second exit from rotary, onto Park St, West Springfield (the Town Common will be on your left,) follow Park thru two lights, and at 3rd light, turn left onto RIver St. Turn left on to any of the side streets off of River (Baldwin, Allston, Norman) these all connect to Memorial Ave & the fair grounds. Many of the residents park cars for the fair. The High School band used to park cars at Memorial School, I don't know if they still do, but you could check. Have fun!!

Note Exit 6 is Route 291.
Mass Pike - Exit 6 to 291. Left onto 291. Stay in left lane for Route 20 (right lane for I91 South). Once on ramp stay in right lane for Rt 20. Take Rt 20 ramp, go through 2 lights, cross bridge, enter rotary. We'll call this the North End Bridge rotary. 2nd exit on right is Park St. (Continue using above directions).
If Exit 6 is backed up on Mass Pike take Exit 4. Take Rt. 5 exit toward W Springfield. About 6 miles down the road is the North End Bridge rotary.
