Hotel Felix River North

My wife and I are coming to Chicago in August and I can leverage a discount rate of $120 at this boutique hotel in River North. It seems like a great price for a centralized location around laot of the things we want to do, but we really want to be walkling distance to good blues clubs, bars and restaurants. Am I making the right choice of neighborhood/hotel?

There are better hotels in the area. The Felix is on the western edge of tourist central. It's a 1920's built hotel that spent decades as an SRO. It's been redone, refurbished but still new wine in an old bottle. $120/night is a great rate in August but, perhaps, for a reason.
