Exactly the road through Kotsyfos gorge will remain closed for the following months. But if you just want to hike at the gorge, you can start from Plakias ( Mylon Str) and walk at least 2 kms to the watermills and the springs.
Has it reopened yet?

Kalimera Londonchef, there are reports in the Cretan newspapers from time to time. But nothing is happening...
The problem is probably that there is no company for this work on Crete, only on the mainland.
There is also a lack of clarity about how to proceed. It seems to be technically complicated...
I assume that the road through the gorge will be closed for some time to come.
On 13 June, there was a newspaper report that construction work had begun. But I haven't heard anything since then.
"It is recalled that following a conversation between the Mayor of Ag. Vassiliou with Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his recent visit to Gerani, the Prime Minister was informed of the impact of the landslide, with the Mayor sending him a detailed memorandum to explore a long-term and radical response to the safe link and its funding options."
