Kruger H1-2 Skukuza-Tshokwane Road Closed

The H1-2 Tar road is closed due to a burst dam washing out the Mantemahle river bridge near S36. It will be closed for at least 2 weeks. The bridge east of Lower Sabie is the only link north & even it was over-topped with water earlier but is now reopened.

Info from the Sanpark Kruger forum and . . .

Amazing levels of water in parts right now, the H10 via Mlondozi will be a fine alternative. I do hope it is only a couple of weeks to fix Ian, one report said several months!

There was widespread rain last night to aggravate things. Many of the dirt roads in the south are closed.

Hi guys! I need an update on the situation.

We are coming on March 25 and we are going to stay at Imbali safari lodge (near to Manyeleti). We will arrive at Nelspruit airport and we will rent a toyota rav 4 in order to self drive until the lodge. We were thinking to use the route Neslpruit - Hazyview - Paul Kruger gate - Skukuza and then pass the Sand river and go straight up north until the lodge. But now maybe this is not possible...

Any updates on the road situation?

Any alternative routes?

Thank you!

No news on the SanPark site so I would assume it is still closed. You can still drive in the park. Aim towards Lower Sabie camp & use the low water bridge just past LS, which adds at least an hour to your park drive - without photo stops. Make sure you get good directions from the camp on the route. It is also wise to have the GPS co-ordinates since you will be leaving the public park roads for the last stretch.

A bypass has now been finished & the road has been reopened.
