Makarska September advice

Looking at staying at Hotel Meteor for 11 nights from 13th September and looking for some general advice...

What's weather temperatures, is it likely to rain?

What's the beaches like? I know they are pebble but are they very big? Will the sea be warm to swim in?

What's the prices of beers/wine in the bars?

How does Meteor compare to Damacija hotel?

We want to visit the islands and split is this relatively easy to do on our own or are tours better?

Have stayed in Rovinj before how does Makarska compare?

Any other advice would be much appreciated.thanks in advance

The sea is very warm this year so you will definitely be able to swim and if you prefer a pool, the one belonging to Hotel Meteor has just been completely refurbished. Weather is usually fine in September, but this year was not really predictable.

I like pebble beaches much more than the sand ones, but you will need the water shoes.

Dalmacija was built in the 1970s, Meteor in the 1980s, and even if Dalmacija (and Meteor) have been refurbished in order to satisfy modern standards, Meteor feels more up to date. Beside it'sposition is better.

You can book many of the tours offered with speed boats from Makarska harbor, and to Brac you can also use the car ferry. To Split there are numerous buses every day.

Rovinj has nothing like Makarska's beaches - and no comparable background like Makarska's Mt Biokovo

Welcome!

If you see this view on Makarska from Mt Biokovo - and Biokovo Nature Park itself - you'll understand why I wrote it :-))

Makarska is much more of a holiday resort whereas Rovinj has an old quarter too. Hhowever, Makarska has fantastic views and is certainly cheaper than Rovinj.

Makarska has a few worthy historic buildings and monuments too. Kacic's square, Town Museum and several other baroque palaces, Franciscan monastery with its unique Malacological (Sea Shells) museum, Botanical garden in Kotisina, the old church at St.Peter peninsula...
