Train from Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station.

Keio Plaza Hotel Staff told us that if we take the Train from Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station, the train has no room for our luggages. Is this true?

So it is better to take the Bus or Taxi.

If find this a bit strange because a train departing from Chitose should expect passengers to be carrying luggages.

Pay extra for the reserved U seats. There are luggage racks in the reserved seats carriage.

Most people have luggage and is no problem. I used it three days ago. The train is faster than the bus too.

This is way strange. Trains and subways going to or by airports are a prime way for people to access the airports in all areas of Japan. I am not sure why any hotel would advise its guests to use taxis or airport limo busses for luggage purposes. On the other hand, in some places the trains are not the most direct routes. In thhis case, the Keio Plaza is close to Sapporo Station, so there are no transfers needed and it is an easy train ride.

You may either leave your luggage in the rack area or behind the last row of seats in each car.

refer to the official photos on airport express trains.

have taken this train more than 5 times from CTS into Sapporo and beyond right after landing. No issue at all with my luggage on this train.

It you take the reserve car, you have the place to keep your luggage.

So far we took normal car also there is a place to store the luggage.

It depends on the type of cars you take, some of them has boxed seats but the others have lines of seats along the windows. Even locals have no way to know which cars are coming next.

https://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/train/tr020_02.html

So-called #721 has boxed seats on unreserved seats so you can put your luggage in between or back of the seats. If you get #733 then you have to keep your eyes or hands on your luggage all the time. #733 has introduced later and new, but I found it very inconvenient for people who have suitcases. If you can afford, better book reserved seats so that (at least) luggage spaces are guaranteed.
