Sugar Beach or Sands Suites?

I have narrowed the choice of hotel to either Sugar Beach ort Sands Suites.

we are a couple in our 50's and we are more pool people than beach people but do like to be near a beach. Which do people recommend more? We will most probably hire a car at some point but are these in walking distance of any restaurants/bars etc?

I don't mind bigger hotels either.

I've stayed at Sands and La Pirogue, the next door sister hotel to Sugar Beach.

Sugar Beach is closer to the centre and on the bus route.

Sands is right at the end of that stretch of beach and quite a way to the centre, plus the bus starts only from The Hilton.

Less families at Sands as its kids club is at the next door sister hotel Maradiva.

Sands Suites might suit you as it is more of a boutique hotel. It also only goes ho tp half board as it does not offer AI.

It is a 20 minutes walk to the Hilton which has the bus stop.

All the hotels are on row at that end of Flic en Flac/Wolmar. So the Sugar Beach is just a few hotels away from the Sands. Still a fair walk.

All the 5* resort hotels in Wolmar are a 20-30 minutes walk to shops and restaurants. La Pirogue is the closest.

Although the furthest away, the Sands is lovely and has a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service.. Sugar Beach is a beautiful hotel, but on a fairly large footprint. Whichever you opt for, you will need to get a taxi into Flic en Flac in the evenings unless you hire a car.
