Best rhino walk operator

Hi,

We'd love to do the rhino walk, and are keen to ensure we pick a reliable operator, but importantly who will truly respect the animals and focus on minimising impact on them.

I see there are some options that are drive+walk, we dont' want that. We want the ones that are a 3 hour walking safari. I've found a handful that seem to get good reviews, does it matter which I book with?

Many thanks.

I think you'll find that there's only one actual ground operator, the trip is just sold by lots of different agents who will provide their own transfers. There aren't multiple different operators conducting walks with the same rhinos.

It has been a very long time since I did this, maybe someone who has done it more recently can confirm, but as far as I remember, it's always mainly a drive, they just then take you on the final approach by foot. I guess how far the final walk bit is depends on the location of the rhinos. But I don't think it's ever really a full 3 hour walk. I think you can do longer walks in the park as a separate activity, but not the rhino walk.

I didn't realise that there was just a single operator that ran the actual walks. The descriptions are all a bit different e.g. some stop mid way for sandwiches, some say tea and biscuits, so I had thought they were all different.

In terms of the walk length, the type I'm after is where it's a 3 hour 'activity' but then of that around 2 hours is walking. There are other options usually called something 'safari and SHORT rhino walk' which, reading the details, you have an hour or less of walking.

It's the former I'm after.
