devils pool and zimbabwe side

Hey guys

first time visiting the falls in nov 2024 and planning ahead with a few questions!

We arrive at 2pm on the 11th and leave at 11am on the 13th and looking staying at the royal livingstone.

Just wanting to know is it possible to do the devils pool and cross into zimbabwe for a falls view on the same day? what if we also added the helicopter gorge ride?

only have one full day and accom is very expensive so trying to make the most of it without extending it! Thanks in advance

Hi Matt,

Many years ago, we also had a short stay at the Royal Livingstone Hotel in October and we did a helicopter flight in the morning and the devils pool in the afternoon as it also included an afternoon tea on Livingstone Island. It was incredible to swim to the edge of the falls and look down into the gorge. On the advise of the lady that took the booking at the hotel, we did the short helicopter ride which was great.

We didn't go over to the Zim side so can't comment on that.

As I said, it was a long time ago so may have changed now.

Hope you have a great trip.

My suggestion would be going to the Zimbabwean side first thing as soon as the border opens.

You should be done and dusted in less than two hours, then back to Zambia for Devil's Pool weather allowing you to do so. Then the chopper ride afterwards.

You could go straight to the Zambian side of the falls on your arrival day as it closes at 6pm.

Sunset is around 6:15 pm in November.

Three hours is more than enough.

You're cramming in too much for one day.

There are other decent hotels in Livingstone half the price of Royal Livingstone.

I appreciate it's posh.

It is possible to do all three, you need to plan your day well. The Devil Pool should take you at least 2 hours, the heli flight about 45 minutes to one hour taking into account the transfers, check-ins and doing the activity. in each instance.

The border with Zim is not far from either the Heli place or Devils Pool. Exit and entry formalities will not take you longer than 30 minutes.

maybe things have changed since you last did, but can you elaborate on the Royal Livingston e Hotel tea?

just wondering how fancy it was as we would be trying to do Devil's Pool the same day.

The Royal Livingstone was, and by the look of their website still is, very fancy and certainly the one off trip of a lifetime for us!. If you take a look at their website https://www.anantara.com/en/royal-livingstone and go to the leisure tab you can download their activities brochure which gives you all the info.

Hope that helps and have a great time.
