I need to travel from Aguas Calientes (hydroelectric) to Cusco by bus or colectivo however need to arrive as early as possible in Cusco to catch a connecting night bus to Arequipa. When is the first bus or colectivo out of hydroelectric and can I make it back to Cusco for around 5pm? I do not wish to use the train, I will walk the ttrack from AC.

The only transportation from Aguas Calientes to Cusco is by train
You can also walk from the Hidroelectrica to Santa Teresa and then to Santa Maria to take a bus to Cusco, probably you have done the same route to go to Machu Picchu
The train will be the only way to arrive in Cusco if you want to make the 5pm bus schedule IMHO

I can only give you the following information:
Hidroelectrica to Santa Teresa, 1 hour 30 minutes walking
Santa Teresa to Santa Maria: 1 hour 45 minutes by bus
Santa Maria to Cusco: 5 hours
Do not know the times of buses leaving Santa Teresa and Santa Maria, would assume they leave when full but not certain, hopefully someone else can help you with tis
Thank you for the info. I now understand there is a 10am bus from Santa Maria to Cusco, I will leave Aguas Calientes in plenty of time to catch this! Here is some useful information to those wishing to visit MP on the cheap.
