BUS: Los Antiguos / Perito Moreno (town) to EL CALAFATE

Question

Oigan!!!

Anyone who knows about an updated timetable for the buses from either Los Antiguos or Perito Moreno to El Calafate? Prices would be helpful too but mostly I need to know what days they run.

I am going from Coyhaique (Chile) south to Chile Chico 7AM, and crossing over to Los Antiguos.

I will probably need to stay the night in either Los Antiguos or Perito Moreno, would one or the other be more convenient? I have perceived that none of the towns are particularly spectacular.

There are various hodge-podge of bus services from Los Antiguos/Perito Moreno to El Calafate. Times are hard to get, often unreliable and can change without notice. If you are going to travel by bus in this area , you have ot have flexibility. Best to deal directly with the bus company, but even then things sometimes fall through.

1. Cal-tur http://www.caltur.com.ar/caltur/ingles/servicios.html#top , Times not found

2. Chalten Travel has a bus from LA and PM to Chalten,Departures in even numbered days from Hotel Belgrano PM at about 10 am, arriving

in El Chalten at about 9 pm. and you can connect to Calafate the next morning http://www.chaltentravel.com/dest_info.php?wVarDestinos=R40

3. Taqsa/Marga http://www.taqsa.com.ar/horarios.php leaves LA at 9 in the morning and PM at about 10:30 am, gets into El Calafate about 1:30 am.

4. Tuesday, Thursdays, & Saturdays Taqsa apparently has another bus leaving Bariloche the day before, and stopping in Perito Moreno to pick up passengers at 00:07 am and arriving in Bariloche at 2 pm http://www.plataforma10.com/ar/Servicios#buscar/3967/2728/23-03-2015/1

Also, apparently El Chalten has a bus direct from Los Antiguos to El Calafate Mondays and Wednesdays, leaving 1:02 am and arriving in Clafate at 14:00: http://www.plataforma10.com/ar/Servicios#buscar/3968/2728/23-03-2015/1

Scratch # 3 above, Marga bus from Los Antiguos to El Calafate says it leaves at 1:07 am and would get into Clafate at about 15:00, give or take a few hours, gawd knows what days , but I think it is Mondays and Wednesdays http://www.taqsa.com.ar/horarios.php

Do you think it would be dangerous to wait alone at the bus station until 1AM in a small town?

No way.

Other than pickpockets, the only towns in Patagonia with any criminal element are Rio Gallegos and Comodoro Rivadavia, and they pretty well leave tourists alone there and the element is miinor. No problem whatsoever in the towns you have mentioned. in your title.
