Three days in Lusaka... Recommendations for car rental

I will be in Lusaka from May 5 to May 8 and I want to get a car because I'm only staying in the city. Anyone have any good recommendations on who to use? I don't mind using local companies, but I always buy extra insurance and I have an international drivers license..

Thanks in advance

Where exactly will you be staying in the city?

Why do you need a car?

Have you ever driven in the madness of Lusaka before? Think smaller version of Delhi.

For 3 days, I'd just be using taxis with local drivers.

Your hosts/hotel may have recommendations.

Avis and Europcar are car rentals available at the airport.

So I haven't booked a place yet, but I imagine it'll be either some place close to the airport or close to downtown. I don't know what the distance is between the two places is... I've been traveling for a year and I've been to 80 countries and typically fly into a place and I want to see the main sites of the city that I'm in and then I leave..... a lot of places I will rent a car because I don't want to hassle. I'm trying to use taxis but if you're really saying that it's cheap then maybe that might be the best solution.

not sure what is there worthwhile to see over 3 days. the most exciting thing i did in lusaka is eating nandos which i cant find near where i live . i would at least bring myself to siavonga over 3 days. for that, you would need a car. lusaka car rental usually have limited mileage.

I wouldn't travel all the way to Lusaka and eat Nandos.

There are lots of lovely restaurants in the East Park Mall in the centre of Lusaka.

Also at Manda Hill and Arcades.

Kabwata cultural Village and the Lusaka museum are worth a visit.

There is a curios market at Arcades but not daily.

Siavonga is pretty but 4 hour drive from Lusaka.

If you're an experienced international driver, then you'll be fine in Lusaka.

Good luck.

The area around the airport is not interesting at all.

I'd recommend you stay in or around the Roma, Arcades, Rhodes Park, Kabulonga and Manda Hill areas which are fairly central and safe and about 50 minutes drive from the airport.

Greetings John Dee,

For a three days stay in Lusaka, I would advise that you use the registered taxis. It would be cheaper and less stressful than to hire and self drive in Lusaka. You can use taxi platforms like Yango (an App). Very reliable and affordable.
