Two Questions: Running and Biking

Heading to Avalon mid-March and staying in Hamilton Cove.

1. Are there any good running routes between 4-8 miles in and around Avalon? A few hills are ok, but nothing crazy hopefully.

2. Is Airport Rd paved? We are thinking of doing the bike ride down from the Airport, but wondering if the road is okay for "not avid" cyclist. I'm hoping we can just point the bikes downhill and let gravity take over. A nice slow way to see the island views.

Thanks from Houston.

ckralich1,

once you get over the hill from hamilton cove to descanso beach, you could run along the water to pebbly beach area and back, a couple miles or so each way and no hills.

the road to the airport is paved. it's not exactly a downhill coast back to town, but fun! here is an elevation chart...

My husband has competed in the triathlon in Avalon several times. Here's the course map which might give you some ideas on where you can run and bike. (scroll down on the website).
