Hi,
I'm traveling to Paris for a week, arriving and departing on a Tuesday. What would be my best savings option for metro use. Am I out of luck because it is mid-week? Are cards only available starting on Mondays?
Thanks,
Jessica

The weekly Navigo Decouverte passes run from Monday morning to Sunday night. You would probably do best to use carnets of 10 ordinary tickets at a reduced price.
Thanks, if I think I'll be using often enough can I still purchase the pass on a Tuesday and just lose the day(s)?
J
Yes. Only you can know whether that would be better value than carnets.

Yes, you can. Last month, we arrived on a Wednesday morning (on Eurostar from London), loaded money on our weekly cards, used public transport three times on that day, and four or five times a day on the remaining four days.
Being fairly regular visitors to Paris, we knew how many times we were likely to use the bus or Metro per day. I think Nick is right in that the average first-timer is likely to overestimate the number of trips per day.

Sorry, I was distracted by a movie on TV. I should have added that, having arrived in Paris on a Wednesday morning, we departed on the following Wednesday morning.
On the Monday and Tuesday, my wife and I used a carnet of 10 tickets, leaving us with two left over. On Wednesday, we bought RER tickets to CDG. Our hotel was very near the RER station, so we walked there. If it had not been near, the RER ticket includes any connecting Metro ride. We still have the two Metro tickets, as our invitation to return to Paris.
The Navigo Decouverte card itself costs five euro, which could be a deal-breaker if one is counting every last penny. For most visitors, it's not enough to worry about.

How much does a Navigo Decouverte pass cost please ?
My friend and I recently visited Paris. We went to the billet window at the metro station and asked for a 5 day ticket (zone 1-5). We used the ticket for 5 full days of metro, bus, and train; and also for the cable car to and from Sacre Coeur. Here's a website that may be helpful: http://www.raileurope.com/activities/paris-visite/index.html
Have fun!
I can only see passes on that site from country-country travel or city-city travel, not the 5 day ticket (zone 1-5) for use on the Paris metro etc.
Am I missing something ?
Hi, I clicked on the link and found the info there, but not sure it is the official site, so it may be charging more. I searched google and found this site which appears to be the official site and the rates quoted look more like the price we paid. Also gives a lot of detailed info for the Paris metro. Hope this helps. http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/r_61584/buy-your-tickets/
The weekly pass for zones 1 and 2 is about 19 Euros, I think.
