Citrusdal to Riebeek Kasteel via the R303

Having now sorted out the itinerary for our trip next October I'm thinking of driving the R303 to get to Riebeek Kasteel from Citrusdal. I understand that it's a gravel road but is it well maintained? I imagine that 40-50 kph will be a sensible driving speed.

Hi Nic

Depends on the vehicle. The road is OK but it will have some corrugated sections where it has been recently graded (stick the false teeth in firmly!) VW Polo sized car 50-60kph easily. Decent 4x4 70-80kph no problem. Have driven this route often.
