Single Trip with DB & SNCF

Greetings: I posted on the Italy forum but did not receive the answer I needed.

If planning to travel from Brennero/Brenner to Avignon on trains operated by DB (to Innsbruck and Zurich) and SNCF (to Dijon and Avignon) would someone please confirm I must buy the tickets separately from each operator? (From Brennero to Zurich with DB and from Zurich to Avignon with SNCF.)

I found the schedule on the DB site https://int.bahn.de/en

It’s going to be a VERY long day but it is the shortest travel time (at just over ten hours) that I have found.

Thank you for your help.

You may well be able to buy the whole journey from DB - have you tried?

What date are you travelling and which departure time did you pick - the 09.02 departure?

Yes, I tried. It’s later in summer so that may be the issue. But I am thinking it’s not going to be possible or better yet not a good idea to try/hope to buy through a single operator.

You are looking too early to book and there will be a timetable change for European trains at the beginning of June.

Try a dummy booking for next week on DB and see what happens.

At the end of the day if you know the trains you need you could buy directly from the train operators - OBB and SNCF.

For this trip you will not be travelling on DB, as you are not going through Germany.

Brennero - Innsbruck will be on OBB. Innsbruck - Zurich on OBB-SBB, and Zurich - Avignon on SBB then SNCF.

Book Brennero - Zurich with the OBB (http://www.oebb.at) and Zurich - Avignon with SCNF or SBB. Even when booked separately the connection in Zurich is protected.
