mid-April this year coincides with Holy week, demand will be high so prices will reflect that.

Like air tickets, train tickets almost never come down in price. The cheaper ones go first, then prices ratchet up until the train sells out. As mentioned, mid-April is just before the important Easter religious and school holidays. A lot of people will be on the move.

You might find bus travel cheaper.....

But as said, Easter and it's build up is really busy in Spain, believe me :)
