Review and reliability of stayforlong.com ?

I would like to know if anyone has ever booked a stay on stayforlong.com?

Is it reliable? What's your opinion ?

It was offered to me on tripadvisor for a stay in Mexico, much cheaper than its competitors. The stayforlong site looked quite reliable. Cancellation and final payment options were offered one week prior to departure. So I did not hesitate and I finally booked it. I received a confirmation email with the details and a booking number.

However, not knowing this site at all, I did some research afterwards. Quite a bit of information in general on research engines. A good score on the website trustpilot.com (8.3 / 10) with more than 2000 reviews. But also a lot of comments with very bad experiences (scam, cancellation of the reservation at the last minute, the hotel is not aware of the reservation, card debited even after cancellation, not the right room, no customer service, ...). Suffice to say that I am not reassured.

On Linkedin, the company STAYFORLONG SL gives the impression of being quite legitimate (https://fr.linkedin.com/company/stayforlong). From what I could find, this is a start-up founded in 2015 in Barcelona, ​​by young entrepreneurs. Specialized in long stays (+ 3 days). It now has more than 50 employees. In 2018, this one was financed by crowdfunding platform "Crowd Angel" (https://novobrief.com/the-crowd-angel-spanish-startups/7948/) as well as other start-ups in Spain.

I do not know what to think about it. It is a fairly expensive stay and I do not want to be fooled. But on the other hand, this company gives the impression of being reliable.

What do you think ?

I think that you should let the forum know how your trip goes....or didn't go.

I don't book via "unknown" 3rd party websites. I book direct or with a "known" platforms...ex Expedia. If there is an issue, you will need to deal with STF vs the hotel/lodging. I don't like having a middleman that I don't know.

Update :

I decided to contact the hotel.

I sent an email to the service that deals with reservations. They confirmed the reservation with the correct duration and the type of room I chose with Stayforlong. I also asked some questions about that site. Here is the answer from the hotel (a reputed hotel chain):

"With regard to the agency you mentioned, we have no information about that company, but your booking is done through a larger agency so you do not have to worry about anything. Sometimes small structures collaborate with bigger ones. Your booking was made by "Kolor Travel", a well-known company. "

For the moment, everything looks good. I am a little more reassured. I'll keep you informed of the results.

Not yet, my trip is in less than 2 months. I advise you to contact the hotel by mail so you'll have a written statement that everything's booked accordingly. I've done the same. The hotel had my booking, my name, the correct room, ..

I have booked and stayed at a hotel in July/August 2019 and all went well. HOWEVER...... I was advised that I have accrued £35 in my ‘StayWallet’ but there appears to be no way of redeeming this against future bookings as was the plan. Several emails to their customer services have resulted in flaky responses including ‘book and we will apply the credit’ but the amount will be system generated against the booking. So I could end up with £2 off a future booking when I thought a whole £35 off would be handy.

I’ve since booked with Zen hotels and have had credit to use about a week after my stay. Book with them or loveholidays - much better and I go away a LOT

FINAL UPDATE

I have just returned from my 10 day stay in Mexico. Everything went very well. No worries with the booking or the hotel. I received the room that I requested. They just asked us for a coupon upon check-in, and I gave them one of the Stayforlong's confirmations that I printed.

So in conclusion, for me it all went perfectly. And I paid a lot less.

I recommend you to confirm in writing with your hotel that everything is booked as it should. With the right room and that it was paid. Then print the mails.
