VietJet Airline

Hi all!

A few months a go I booked some flights from BKK to Ho Chi Minh with VietJet Airlines and I have recently read that they have lost their international license, but, they hope to regain it in October.

My flight is on the 30th December, so, I have time, however, I am a little concerned that if they do not get their license, then my flight will be cancelled.

I am awaiting a response from the airline, but just wanted to get your views on this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The Thai Government revoked licenses of numerous airlines flying into/out of Thailand, VietJet was one of them

Wasnt it Thai VietJet that had its license revoked? Not the Vietnamese version of VietJet?

There was a thread about this recently which had a link to the full list.

I seem to recall it was all due to an impending inspection, the details are on here somewhere.

Here's the article -- bangkokpost.com/business/news/1323007/govt-t…

No sign of the list though, it appears to have been removed from the article . . . .

Here's the thread https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g1-i… where others are clearly referring to having read a list ;-)

It's business as usual for the BKK to SGN route by Vietjet. The booking system and flight schedules is as normal. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand did not issue new operator certificates for Vietjet Thai and 11 other airlines due to these airlines have not yet completed the re-certification program.

The parent Vietjet Vietnam immediately took over the international routes of Vietjet Thai which is expected to be reissued with a new operator certificate next few months when the re-certification program is completed.

A good summary of the situation is here:

Hi Gordon,

Don t worry, the've not lost their licence at all.

The operator which has been suspended his licence is Thai Vietjet and they are not operating BKK-SGN, this is done by mother company Vietjet.

And in any case, Thai Vietjet should recover his licence by next month max.

Cheers,

I have a pressing concern re this airline. It confirmed two bookings I made last week, one from Ho Chi Minh City to Chiang Mai, Thailand and another from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh City. Good prices. Quick action. However, after several days of "pending" status on my Capital One credit card account, the transaction disappeared. Upon further research the bank said that Vietjetair never sent the payment information details required after initial authorization from my bank and, after 5 days, they deleted the record. I contacted the airline through a circuitous process, as their phone lines had circuit busy problems and found a nice guy in New Delhi, who provided me with a contact of his. She replied, at first, with the same confirmation details I had. When I persisted someone from customer support insisted my flights were confirmed and paid for. Except they were not paid for, and Capital One says that even if they are tardy in providing the information generally required after initial authorization it will be bounced, as the payment authorization has been cancelled. I further wrote the airline, which has not yet responded, but I surely don't want to count on these reservations being there in September when I am traveling. If I make another booking on another airline (which follows normal credit card rules) there may still be some issues with Vietjetair, and I worry that there might be some legal action (not here, as that's not a problem with my bank) if I arrive in Vietnam and my name is somehow is in legal jeopardy. Perhaps I am worrying unduly, but this is a crazy set of circumstances that I've NEVER had before. Anyone with similar stories to tell. Many thanks.
