A trip into the good, bad and funny of South Africa's history. As a Poggenpoel maiden , I loved the Poggenpoel Koeksisters. The whole experience couldn't be more authentic to South Africa and it’s past. TIP: Try to visit over a weekend, as Pieter Dirk Uys stars in shows during the weekend that provide some comic relief to the hard-hitting... More

His sharp wit and amazing characters make his performance great fun. In English and Afrikaans he mocks the good and the so called great.

We love coming to Evita se Perron to have a nice Bebotie service is a bit slow but friendly, they now have a kiddies menu for the little one's. The Bebotie is nice as ever and taste like the good old days, a must try.

The place is too kitschy to be called a conventional restaurant. But despite this, a lot of imagination has gone into "decorating" the old station which is now quite attractive. The food was not as flamboyant as the surroundings in which it was served, but we liked it and would recommend the "Perron" to anyone who passes through Darling.

This is a must-see. The incredible collection of memorabilia throughout the years of apartheid and post-apartheid era is amazing. The place is well cared for and is a most interesting visit. The restaurant serves food food at reasonable prices.

We popped into Darling's Evita se Perron on our way to a wedding at Yzerfontein. A lovely little oasis in the middle of nowhere! We enjoyed a light meal and found the service good. The waitress seemed a little offish - perhaps the toll of a busy Christmas / New Year?

This little bistro is set within a railway carriage, and the food is pretty good, with lots of standard dishes, all well presented. Evita Se Perron plays to her audience on stage in the main room, where one can also dine, and the food is equally tasty and well presented, with laughs on the side. All in all, well worth... More

What can one say about Evita.....the evil genius of Pieter Dirk Uys is something I have admired all my life. A delicious lunch included in the ticket price, excellent wines and wonderful table services. My only gripe was that the lady in the ticket office was unpleasant to the point of hostile. Nothing would crack a smile from her. Did... More
