My wife and son were with me as we took a chance on this place as it looked very welcoming. The service was very friendly and good, and the milkshake was one of the best yet.
My family thoroughly enjoyed their lunches which were tasty and generously portioned.
I had the lamb curry which is very mild but had some of the tastiest lamb chunks I have had in years. I would recommend this place for meals or coffee and cake.

We were up the west coast to see the flowers and found the Cat. A nice cosy place, nothing fancy, but interesting, strange you don't sell Marmalade.
We ordered the Pancakes with Scrambled eggs and cottage cheese, Ladies too too much cheese it was overpowering, and also rather a waste of money as I could not handle it, pity, once I had removed several grams of cheese it was a nice mix. Service was attentive well done.

Once again this place didn't disappoint. Food was as great as always, prices are very reasonable and yes the service was a bit slow but at least they don't have more staff than patrons and the food was well worth the wait. I always eat here when in Darling.

Would we go again? No. My Wife and I have been loyal fans of the Marmalade Cat since it opened almost twenty years ago and our recent (Valentine's day) lunch there was a great disappointment. The new owners have completely lost everything that made the place so fabulous and should change the name in respect of the founder. And the Cat.

We visited Darling after many years. What a pleasure to find a restaurant that met our expectations. The food was delicious with a twist (my husband’s mussel chowder was the star). The portion sizes were enormous but best of all was the fact that unlike other restaurants, that are seeking to recover their losses they sustained during Covid, the prices were excellent. Well done to the Marmalade cat. PS the cat is now 18 years and does NOT want to be picked up. Leave this old dame in peace!

We visited Darling recently and lunched at The Marmalade Cat. We chose two different Thai flavoured meals. Both were very fresh and tasty. We also bought frozen pies - one of them, Springbok, has been eaten. It was full of meat, succulent and very tasty.

During our impromptu visit to Darling we had lunch at the Marmalade Cat. What a good choice it turned out to be. Excellent quality food served in a charming setting. We cannot recommended this small restaurant highly enough. The food was freshly prepared and of very high standard, the ingredients are clearly of good quality and the meals are prepared with care and skill. We had organic beef burgers and the chicken pie, everything was great! We will definitely visit again!

Amazing service. Delicious food. Wonderful ambience. Meal was fully and freshly prepared. Restaurant was packed which added a newly found relief of a slowly coming back to normal environment.

We have visited the Marmalade Cat in Darling before, but having visited Langebaan the previous night, we couldn't miss the opportunity to visit the restaurant again. The Karoo lamb pie was truly homemade and delicious. And to see the namesake cat soaking up the warmth was just the cherry in the top!

The signage is bad so you might miss it even if you are looking for it. Try and meet Marmalade. She is such a delight. Although breakfast was average, there is an adventure to be had in exploring all the little goodies they have on sale. Service was good. Maybe next time we have lunch and see how that goes....

Great place for eating a big variety of delicious food, meeting friends or having a family party. It is a wonderful restaurant as well as very nice gift art, and deco shop with attached fashion boutique (Cat Walk). I could spend the whole day there eating and shopping. The service is extremely nice helpful, and competent. The amount and quality of food (most local and organic) is perfect. Don’t miss the nicely planted and shaded patio.

The Marmalade Cat is much more than just a place to eat. Lots of interesting things to browse through and look at while you are waiting for your food. And Marmalade herself is usually there as well to say hi. The food is fresh, well prepared and reasonably priced. We all enjoyed the experience immensely.

We’re locals and MC used to be our absolute favourite but everything we loved has changed. It’s no longer a happy vibe with most of the old staff seemingly gone, quality and service a far cry from when Sandy ran it. We had scones which certainly rank as the worst we’ve had together with over-extracted coffee. But, what can be expected when the new owners are never present or in tune with what was previously a winner. So very sad for our village!

Did a road trip to Langebaan and stopped at this wonderful establishment for lunch. Food as always was fresh, friendly staff and owner and we could sit there with my friend's dog. So wonderful to know this place has survived.

What a find .. food was good, nice portions, great coffee and the staff are friendly and thoughtful - our waitress was a delight!
Lovely cool garden - tables both inside and out.
Shop attached for a browse - range of things to buy.
Would definitely put on my list to go back to !
