Wherever you found a place like this you would be happy. Sit inside or slightly above the sidewalk. Very pleasant, quick service and an interesting menu. My wife chose the smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado on sourdough and I had the chicken, avocado and salad wrap: both good value and very tasty. Will pop in again during our few days in The Valley.

It’s not the first time we’ve visited this gem in Tulbagh. Kole en Deegis an establishment renowned for its roosterkoek, and it never disappoints.
I had the bacon and cheese Roosterkoek and my wife had the bacon and egg quiche. Both meals were delicious and freshly made.
Outside of the meal enjoyment, the Kole en Deeg’s staff are always happy and helpful and the ambience is always inviting.
The restaurant sells the roosterkoeks as well as a myriad of jams, protein bars and quiches.
If you’re visiting Tulbagh, this is an essential stop.

Decided to stop off for lunch after a drive from Franschhoek via the Bainskloof Pass (stunning).
We both ordered the homemade ostrich pie which was described as a goulash with peas & peppery gravy - as well as peas, there appeared to be carrots added as well.
The pie was absolutely amazing, plenty of filling, lovely pastry & very peppery - lovely.
Complete with lovely flat white coffees & Coke Zero we thoroughly enjoyed our snack here.
The waitress asked us if everything was OK and when we said the ostrich pie was very peppery, she was concerned we didn’t enjoy it - when we explained we loved the peppery taste, she was relieved.
Just remember though, if you don’t like pepper, it may not be for you!

A few years ago I reviewed this eatery, commenting that I had my best burger ever here. I went back for breakfast today. And had my best toasted- sandwich ever ! Called the Karoo, it was a mound of juicy and delicious pulled lamb with crunchy Asian coleslaw and pickles piled into their signature roosterkoek. This was washed down with a yummy strawberry frappe. Their salmon benedict was awesome too, as was the service and overall value

We found Kole & Deeg after scouring through the far reaches of the internet to find a quality place for a well deserved breakfast. We sat down for breakfast and had bought half of the delectable eats before our food arrived. The fully stacked platteland breakfast (with added mushrooms and avocado) lasted me till well after lunch, and that is when I indulged in the Sweety Pie cupcake. The staff were on point and keen to banter with two souls that wandered in off the street in search of a morsel. They entertained our distorted view on humour and made us feel as part of the display with our table laden with delicious eats. You truly deserve my first ever review on this platform. We will surely return in hordes to ravage your larder.

My order did not include french fries and when paying the additional R28 they were well er..... not too many.
The dishes are a bit laid in sauces that the taste buds might like but the health fairies not. I personally think the restaurant across the street was better but that is just my thought.

Kole en Deeg is located on the main street of Tulbagh. It has a rather unobtrusive shopfront, doesn't really stand out - appearances are deceiving in its case. We thorougly enjoyed their “meaty breakfast on roosterkoek” and coffees. Good, friendly service. Decor pretty and a very pleasant atmosphere inside.

Stayed over in Tulbagh and went to Kole and Deeg for dinner. sat outside and watched the day go by. The service is very very friendly and the fish and chips was fresh and the yummiest crispy batter. They serve craft beer and ciders. Not to be missed when visiting Tulbgh

Honestly the best quiche I have ever eaten, the crust was so wholesome and tasty and I couldn't get enough of it... The kids all had milkshakes and they were exactly what a milkshake should be, rich, creamy and delicious.
Can't wait to return

We so enoyed our time at 'Kole & Deeg', we live in Cape Town, but know Tulbagh well, and ths time round spent a couple of nights there. 'Kole & Deeg' has delicious food and drinks and the staff are charming. great breakfast, brunch and lunch options and it was predictably full with locals. We will be back, do go.

The name Kole & Deeg rings true with the amazing experience. The braai broodjies especially the Rageltjie is mouthwatering. Fabulous coffee brewed in-house with great service. I couldn't resist the scones and nougat as a take away. Don't drive past Kole & Deeg it's a must when you are in Tulbach.

After staying at Epistay Self-Catering accommodation we walk to Kole en Deeg in the main Street of Tulbagh, 29 Van Der Stel Street, Tulbagh, Witzenberg.
The menu was not too busy and I could choose my meal quite easy.
When it came it was just awesome, everything was nice and warm all at the same time. The food also came out quick. I was very impressed.
With a big variety of scones fresh-baked stuff and the ability to make some of the yummiest food rather quickly, I will give Kole en Deeg in 29 Van Der Stel Street, Tulbagh, a 12 out of 10 :)

We had breakfast here and ordered the roosterkoek instead of the seeded loaf. It was delicious ! And the portion size was perfect. They used half of a roosterkoek and not a full one as they do with the toasties. The ensemble was fresh and looked appealing to eat. The proof was in how sumptuous it tasted! We will be back!

On our way back to Cape Town, we made a spontaneous stop in Tulbagh to find a breakfast spot and stumbled upon Kole & Deeg. What a fantastic surprise! The service was exemplary and swift (Patricia was a star!) and the food really well made, presented and balanced. The poached eggs, in particular, are a thing of beauty. Cannot recommend highly enough!
