Truly the best fish ‘n chips I’ve ever had and Pierre’s crème brûlée was in his top 3 🏅 Loretta’s friendly hospitality was the first taste of a consistently impressive lunch in this beautifully located, hilltop, Michelin star restaurant overlooking the lagoon. Impeccable down to the finest detail, Highly recommended. Book a midweek lunch to enjoy quiet ambiance, because this gem is often fully booked weekends and evenings. Leaving was our only disappointment ❣️

We had a fine dining experience in a beautiful setting overlooking Langebaan lagoon. The menu was small but catered for all tastes. From the home baked bread and complimentary amuse-bouche onwards the interesting tastes just kept on coming. We sampled oysters, mussels and seared bonita fish. Meat eaters were also well looked after. Try this new restaurant, you won't be disappointed .

We had been recommended the FarmHouse hotel in Langabaan by a friend who said they had a wonderful meal on their last visit. Last week we went to experience it on our way to Paternoster. The restaurant is independent from the hotel and has a fresh ,modern feel with spectacular views over the lagoon from either the dining room or the terrace. We were greeted by LaRetha, one half of the young owners, the other being her French chef husband Yohann. With masks on I didn’t recognise her from when she was front of house at Le Coin Francois in Franschhoek six months before. They opened La Petite Maisonette in November and it has been deservedly a great success. Fine dining was missing in Langabaan but no longer! Sea food is very prominent on the menu which my wife loved but I had slow cooked Oxtail which was perfect . Puds were fantastic! You should go.

We were quite excited about the offering of French cuisine when looking for a restaurant in Langebaan. Unfortunately we were hopelessly disappointed. The wine list offering was quite bare, but we settled for a sub-par bottle of wine and a bottle of bubbles. After 40mins of waiting we were served the wrong wine and bubbles, only to be informed our selection wasn’t available. The food was beautifully presented and was delicious, but unfortunately the rest of the experience completed negated the quality of the food. The service was non-existent. Our glasses were never refilled and our dirty crockery and cutlery not removed, only when the next course was served was it noticed that our table was never cleared. We had to walk half-way across the restaurant to get the wine to refill our own glasses. Then we had to ask for clean cutlery. To add insult to injury, after settling the bill, and whilst waiting for our ride, we were informed the hotel is closing and we had to leave. The strange thing is that it was just after 9pm on a Friday night. No hospitality or common courtesies were offered. We were unceremoniously booted. So much potential totally ruined by bad housekeeping and management, a real disappointment.

This restaurant has so much potential. The views and ambience are second to none. However we had a cheese and meat platter today which I would give a 5 out of 10. Not very innovative and grapes were past their sell by date service is poor and having to pay two separate bills for wine and food is very strange. We have now been 3 times. First time hubby had to remove the plates from the table after our meal and send to the kitchen. If it wasn't for the views I would give this place a miss and just order a lovely bottle of wine from the bar. Hotel is separate this review is for the restaurant

Dear Mrs Karen Sinclaire, I am following up on your comment which I think is a bit exaggerated. We are sorry that your stay with us was not satisfying, however we served you as we serve all our customers and so far everything went very well. It is unfortunate that the people who come to our establishments think they are more like gastronomic critics than customers wanting to have a good time. About the separate notes, we are independent of the hotel so if you have a drink in the hotel bar and a meal in the restaurant it goes without saying that there will be two notes. I don't remember you ever coming to my restaurant. You came earlier during the week & had wine from the Hotel BAR on my patio. I have been the new owner for a very short time. I have no memory that your husband had to take his plate back to the kitchen, he should have washed it too while he was than in the kitchen. Thank you for your criticism which will of course be corrected immediately. Sincerely La Petite Maison

Jyst got home from a wonderful lunch at this perfect restaurant. The local oysters were oerfectly prepared. Our mains of fillet & fish & chips were succulent & the single dessert of creme brulee was perfection. Friendly but professional srvice throughout. Highly recommended for a return visit. Best local restaurant for fine dining. Thanks so much.

This restaurant is a culinary gem on the West Coast, not to be missed. The quality of the food is world-class and delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and service super friendly. Young chefs like Yohann that works with such dedication should be supported.

Relaxed, yet stylish yet understated interior. Beautiful lagoon views from the dining room. Warm welcome by co owner whilst French hubby does the cooking. Small interesting menu, and the yellowtail starter and grilled prawns were enjoyed with acclaim! Both the lamb shank and grilled fish served with taglatelle were superb. Small and focussed regoinal wine list, unfortunately number of wines out of stock. Service needs to be sharpened. Has all the potential to become the regional fine dining favourite!

We had big expectations for this restaurant. They were not fulfilled. This is why. On arrival, rather than being met with a welcome which one might expect in an establishment in the Hospitality industry, the greeting was “You have not got a booking”. We did. We waited for twenty minutes for two glasses of wine. We had to call the waitress, who bought a bottle, when we had ordered two glasses. The Lobster starter was in fact prawns. The dish itself was nice, but it wasn’t what we had ordered. Top tip: manage your customer’s expectations. If lobster has run out, tell the customer at the time of ordering. No apology was made when we pointed out to the waitress that we didn’t get what we had ordered. The rib eye steak was chewy. The chicken was well cooked but bland. The lemon meringue pie really did not taste very much of lemon at all. When we gave this feedback to the owner at the end, she appeared unconcerned. We would expect the price of the starter to be reduced to reflect the cost of prawns v lobster, but this was not offered. Would not return here and would advise other customers to AVOID this restaurant. Verdict: lots of froth, little substance.

La Petite Maison at The Farmhouse in Langebaan has raised the bar, not only on the West Coast, but in the Western Cape as a whole. Every item on the menu is thoughtful and creative. Service is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere, setting and view are top class. Foraged and local ingredients are featured tastefully, but not self-consciously. The home-made butter with seaweed bits accompanying the crisp-crusted bread serving, is a good example. My wife’s Saldanha oysters with Chef Johann’s special garnish, were large, succulent and perfectly shucked. I started with tomato taco shells with prawns and a fresh tomato salsa. Perfectly executed and flavorful. We both followed with confit chicken breast with a roast chicken lasagna and crispy skin garnish. The flavoring and textures were astonishing. So much care in prep and presentation! Dessert was nougat glacé with fresh strawberries and a quenelle of pistachio ice cream. A perfect conclusion to an outstanding meal.

LaRetha and Yohann have made the Farmhouse Hotel a destination because of his commitment to preparing amazing food. I was treated to an Abalone risotto that was so tender it could be cut with a spoon. They also serve the breakfast in the hotel and it beautifully prepared and served.

Wow wow wow ,blown away with really special French Cuisine. Starter was French Onion Soup better than I had in Paris,Mains was Pork Loin with fresh crispy Vegetables and my desert was Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream. My wife lives Seafood and enjoyd the complimentary starters and Mains of Seafood and She says it's the best she ever had. The view is spectacular although we visited during a real bad storm, but the cosy fire kept the atmosphere perfect.

Our party had made a reservation for breakfast on the 1st of May. We were unfortunately delayed by matters out of our control at the hotel that we were staying at. Upon arrival , we said that we had a reservation and the restaurant owner raised her voice and scolded us for being late and that we cannot accommodate us, in a dismissive manner. So much so that all the other guests turned around to see what the fuss was. Were we late , absolutely. Did we deserve to be treated in the way that were were - no one deserves to be treated that way. I cannot think why someone in hospitality would treat potential patrons like that. A quiet "unfortunately we are unable to assist" would have sufficed, not a verbal attack. Unprofessional and unhospitable and just plain rude. Won't try it again.

WOW WOW WOW!! Date night for our 38th wedding anniversary last night and we could not have asked for better!! The food was over the top amazing!! We had the french onion potjie soup, kingklip, duck and then the absolute showstopper a new chocolate/caramel/peanut (you can just call it snicker bar) cake that they baked for the first time yesterday!!! We were give mini kabeljou balls and mussels on guacamole served on a poppadom as a complimentary snack as well as little shortbread circles with the most heavenly chocolate mouse and topped with a raspberry!! Words cannot describe the taste sensation last night was!! How blessed am I to live in Langebaan to go experience La Petite Maison on a regular basis. 10/10 all round for me

This place has such a great view and ambience. Lots of different settings. wood fires. However the menu is very limited. I had the snails with a tomato puree and puff pastry as a starter. The flavors did not work together the snails were tender but the other combinations were really strange with lack of seasoning. Very well presented though. They need to make the menu bigger maybe incorporating their take away menu which in my opinion is far better than the set menu. Service very poor
