Unfortunately we were out of luck to get a booking but strolled through anyway to have a look. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They offer a 20 course meal from 12 to 3.00 and the crayfish shells were definitely teasing my appetite. Rather book in advance to get a seat

Three but actually more a four. Nice chilled place to sit on drift wood benches on the beach and enjoy the day or night. The food is fresh from the sea and for approximately 300ZAR you van eat for hours. All kind of fishes and pots to taste and everything was great. If you don’t mind to eat with your fingers or with a shell thats the place to visit. We had a great day!

I visited this place more than 20 years ago. Since I have been married with kids I wanted to take my kids to experience it, however whenever we are in langebaan and try to make a booking then Strandloper is fully booked... I visited the place yesterday again in the Hope's that we could get a booking for lunch or lunch for Sunday but sadly fully booked again...I suppose their food is still so good that's why it's always booked out...

We were 4 and visited on Saturday 22 February. It is the most un hygenic place I have ever been to, there's no proper toilets/bathrooms they expect you to use porter loos. The food is tasteless, the best thing about the so called 10 course meal was the coffee. we kept waiting for the next meal to see an improvement which didn't happen.

After reading the mixed reviews we were apprehensive. Go with an open mind, and you’ll have an afternoon to remember. No cutlery, and no corkage, but (paper) plate after plate of great fish dishes to sample, with great hosts. Loved the smoked angelfish and Malay curry!! The kids played on the rocks and fed the gulls while we enjoyed the afternoon. Will definitely be back. Kids LOVED it.

We went to Die Strandloper for lunch. It’s rustic in a very charming way; loved the way food is cooked on the various braais, in potjie pots and wood fired ovens. Service is warm, friendly and engaging in an authentic way. This isn’t posh of fancy, but wholesome and good. Set menu costs R340 pp and either a beach bar or BYO for drink. It takes around 3 hours so take your time, wander the beach, go for a swim... Sure this is not the fanciest food or best tasting meal we’ve had, but the whole package is brilliant. Love it.

What a wonderful establishment. We can't recommend it highly enough. On the beach one dines for about three hours on delicious west coast food. The grand finale includes lobster. Their breads are phenomenal. Ambiance superb. What a treat. We have supported Die Strandloper for years on our infrequent visits to the Bay Area. Our only disappointment was on our most recent trip they were fully booked days in advance. This is a sign of success and quality. Hence our suggestion: Book well in advance. The establishment is unique and spectacular. Service outstanding. We can only recommend it very highly indeed. Enjoy!

The restaurant is set right on the beach and its opening is weather dependant. Fortunately, we chose a day when the weather was beautiful. It was our 24th anniversary and we spent a magical 3.5 hours there enjoying the scrumptious 10-course meal, including crayfish. Do remember to bring your own drinks (although there is a bar on-site), sunscreen, cap/hat, and camera. COVID-19 protocols were well adhered to.

It’s a regional, if not a national, institution: Die Strandloper. Come hungry, come open and with good attitude, come with memories of some ‘stoute’ Afrikaans songs for the sing-along entertainment : Jissus, this plek is lekker! Freshest seafood of all descriptions, caring staff, and true atmosphere. It never ceases to amaze and please. Hedonist heaven!

good value for money. would suggest some changes: like cape malay koeksisters rather than the sickly sweet one they serve and kreef kerrie rather than the bland seafood curry that was mostly potato and tinned tuna - The braai Kreef was bland - a real waste of an expensive product. still worth the experience and support. Also the the enamel mugs were rusted inside and they expect you must drink your drink from this. Toilets were dirty - this can be managed better. the higlights were the bread and jams and snoek and potatoe and sweet potato...

The experience and location and atmosphere was excellent, however the cost, which is a bit high for the food you get, was for 10 courses but we only received 8, the Angel fish and line fish was not served. When we queried this we were told we must have missed the call but this is not true as we were sitting opposite the serving area and not 1 of our party of 4 heard the call for the two missed dishes. A good experience but spoilt by dishonesty from the host. Would rate the experience 4/5 food 3/5 . Worth a visit but make sure you get the full 10 courses you are paying for.

This is a unique restaurant situated right on the beach in a rustic setting. You sit on logs, eat with mussel shells and get your drinks in small plastic cups. You are right on the beach with the ocean sounds in the background. The menu is extensive. There is a great selection of fresh fish that is well prepared. There are also South African specialities like snoek , potbrood, and seafood curry (delicious). The overall experience was hindered by rain on the day and the fish nets above your head do not protect you and your food from getting wet. Despite this, we had a wonderful meal. The only disappointment was the crayfish tails which were cold and tasteless. If you prefer, bring your own cutlery. Wine can be bought on site, but you can also bring your own.

It's a fun excursion to do once. Friendly staff. It isn't really 10 courses. It is 10 little options. The first course of mussels was really nice. A lot of the items were very average though and the final crayfish tail very disappointing and very small indeed. a nice way to spend a leisurely afternoon and nice that one can bring own beverages with. It is a novel and very rustic set up - even after being in business over 30 years. Almost too rustic and portable toilet set up.. Clean though. Glad we have been but wouldn't worry going again.

We didn't get 10 courses, only 8. They did not serve the angelfish or line fish and when we questioned this at the end, we were told "they did serve it and we must not have heard them announce it". This is Not true! They came over and announced every other course except those two. I even went and looked around while each course was being prepped yo get some photos and these 2 were nowhere to be found on the day. There was enough food at the end of the day, but it's the principle and the lying that turned a fairly positive experience into a negative one. I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying the place though. Its a nice experience and I would recommend to try it at least once. The food is very basic though so just know you are paying mainly for the atmosphere and make sure you triple check that you will be getting 10 courses.

Awesome vibe being on the beach. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The fresh fish was a real treat....not to mention the freshly baked breads, roosterkoek and koeksisters!! Loved the local musician whom also contributed to the experience!! Will definitely visit again!!
