When you go there, you can feel the history. The person at the counter was kind enough to explain me the whole history of the place and let me stroll around like in a museum. I really felt welcomed... Next time, Ill have my lunch...there...More

Very nostalgic little Shop with alot of history and culture. Worth a visit if you are interested in South African Afrikaner history.

If the menu is in bad state, why would the food not be? Dirty menus with unreadable water (or something worse) damaged ink prices. And yes, the food was worse. Very dry, tasteless chicken pie, rotten cherry romatoes in the salad that lead to an...afternoon of upset stomach for both my friend and myself. What an utter disappointment!More

We were very sad to discover that this restaurant is looking and feeling very dilapidated and run down. Despite the beautiful location, there is no view from the back of the property where the restaurant is located, and when we viewed the menu options and...noted the overall cleanliness of the place we decided to only have a drink and not order any food. Sadly this place is way past any former glory.More

What a total disaster! Not only was the coffee and scone served appalling, but my car was also broken into! Car radio and other valueables (which were all stored out of sight!) gone! Door lock forced open, fusebox opened, work laptop gone, tablet gone (all...locked away in boot!) and car can't be locked! Staff showed absolute NO empathy when I approached them (in fact I was just ignored!) and they could not be bothered at all! Visit at your own risk especially, during the afternoons! There WAS a car guard sitting right IN FRONT of the place and he probably knocked off BEFORE closing time! Place won't see me again!More

We stopped at Tan Malie with the intention of having breakfast as part of the day trip in Hartebeespoort dam. The shop has a variety of canned goods, freshly baked bread and some curios. You can choose between an indoor or outside table and they...also have tables on different levels, with the lower level leading to a garden-type environment. We decided to just have coffee at the restaurant and explore more before having breakfast. The lady that assisted was young and bit unsure of herself, including the menu, but very sweet in her approach and assistance. The coffee came in old fashioned mugs and was tasty and well prepared. A good place to stop for coffee, while in the areaMore

This establishment takes you back to the old days. The setting is really lovely and rustic. The food is served in tin plates. And it all just works. The little shop also offers the most interesting little trinkets and of course the home baked bread....Would go again.More
