My wife and I had the pleasure to visit Panostrati our first evening in Sellia. It was beyond perfect. It felt very cosy and Stavros was a friendly and attentive host, welcoming us in his family’s restaurant. Cooking is in this family’s genes, and they serve locally sourced traditional Cretan dishes with a menu that varies depending on what’s fresh and available at the market. So you may not find the same dish from one trip to the next. However, the quality and hospitality are constant and you genuinely feel it. My favorite dish was the vegetarian stuffed eggplant or Papoutsakia. Try it, you won’t regret it. We loved it so much we came back after a detour the evening prior to touristy Plakias. Totally different vibes there. Our hostess was as charming as Stavros was, and we enjoyed this wonderful tavern one last time (on this trip). I tried the meat-stuffed eggplant while my wife had the Briam, a vegetable stew. Again, just delightful! Go there, enjoy and come again.

We were a big group of family and friends, and we had a wonderful evening at Panostrati. This is a traditional cretan restaurant with excellent food and a wonderful view of the Plakias area and the Libyan Sea. The mixed, greek starters were very tasteful. The mixed grill with vegetables and tzatziki can also be recommended, but was perhaps a special treat since we had booked for a big group. The sheep's milk ice cream is smoother and more tasty than ordinary ice cream. The wines from Gavalas (both rosé and red) were well received. Most of all, the atmosphere created by the host, his family and employees was fantastic, and everybody enjoyed themselves.

All Celia deserves is this tavern. Delicious homemade food, the nicest wine I've ever drank (own-produced) and people are exactly what we call "Cretan hospitality" . I stayed a month in the village - where I did not keep the best impressions, but Panostratti became the best memory from that summer.

Panostrati was okay. It was busy, service was alright, food was average and location was nice. Unfortunately, the menu was the same as every other restaurant along the strip, which was a real pity. Crete has amazing fish, meats and vegetables, not to mention the wines, but the strip seems to want to race to the bottom of the chicken and chips standard, which is tragic. Maybe the Germans and British are driving the agenda, but the restaurants should be prouder of their heritage and produce and try to stand out with simple excellent dishes that pay tribute to the local ingredients.

We were with the four of us and tasted already quite some wine and lamb chops during our stay, but the red house wine and lamb chops here were the best! Also the starters were very tasty and fresh made. The family was very kind and passionate. We felt really welcome, the raki at the end tasted very good! :-)

Mind blowing lamb 😊

Highly, highly recommended!!! We had a great meal, especially the slow-cooked lamb in wine sauce was the best we've ever eaten. Excellent food, equally great service and a fantastic view of the sea. So definitely stop by if you're nearby and follow the daily recommendation. P.S.: Thank you Chef, really well done. The lamp was mind blowing! 🥰

Fresh and delicious food

It is a typical tavern that knows how to cook very fresh food. By far the best restaurant in this part of Crete. We returned to understand if the food was so good by chance and instead they are really good. To top it off they gave us raki with honey. Honest prices and not at all touristy

Excellent tavern in Sellida, just five minutes drive from Plakias. Family run, with open kitchen. Try the mixed appetizers, all homemade and one better than the other, but also the meats cooked slowly in the oven. Very honest price

Absolutely lovely atmosphere, staff and phenomenal food! We dropped by spontaneously and enjoyed coffee and Mezze, which were delicious and homemade. We are sad we didn’t manage to come for dinner! Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly too, would recommend a visit for anyone in the area!

Great Local Place

Gem of a place. Little off the beaten place with a BIG heart and great food. Service is excellent with views for forever. We have been to Sellia 3 times now and this place is always on our list. We go at least 3 to 6 times in our 2.5 weeks holidays.
