Noah's Cheese is a craft Cheesery, Deli and Restaurant on the farm Node near Clarens in the Eastern Free State, South Africa. In the beautiful, rustic environment on the farm, artisinal cheese is crafted in the shadows of Mount Ararat. Noah’s Cheese caters for cheese tastings and platters, and groups and function bookings are welcome. Noah’s are licenced and wines such as sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, chenin blanc, rose, merlot and cabernet sauvignon are served. Noah’s Cheese proudly makes only raw milk cheese from Jersey cows in a time honoured tradition. Noah’s Cheeses are well-known and its products include mozzarella based marinated string cheeses, salaté, halloumi, bocconcini, white mold and blue cheese (a very unique range of artisanal cheese with stronger flavours), speciality cheeses and hard cheese (a range of matured cheese). The approach of Noah’s Cheese is based on a concept of food that is defined by three interconnected principles: good, clean and fair. During September 2017, Noah’s Cheese was invited by Slow Food International to participate in Cheese 2017, the world’s biggest cheese festival. Noah’s Cheese became a member of the Slow Food Presidium. The Slow Food Presidia consist of small food producers committed to providing good, clean and fair food that is beneficial to humans and the planet. Slow Food, a global movement originated in Italy, was founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us. But Noah’s is not just about cheese. They stock a range of products produced on the farm and surrounding area. There are beautiful jams, marmalades and sauces to be served as condiments to the cheese. I ordered the grilled chicken & Pesto Bocconcini salad which was served with crispy bread. Due to more than usual rains in the Free State, the condition of the gravel road was bad, but the good food and good service made up for this. Our family will visit Noah’s again in future.

Who knew cheese tastings could be so tasty and the staff was really friendly. It is a bit off the beaten path with the gravel road and I was glad we didn't drive a low car but worth the visit. The only thing missing was a place to keep the kids busy

This little gem is about 10 km from Clarens in the direction of Bethlehem. The gravel road to reach the farm is a little bit bumpy here and there but worth it. It is a small establishment with about 6 or so tables and friendly waiters and staff. The tables are outside (undercover) with the picturesque view of the sandstone koppies behind the farm. We enjoyed a lovely cheese board with a variety of Noah's cheeses that are made on-site. the cheeses were paired with col meats and condiments. My absolute favorite of the day was the fig and mozzarella phyllo parcel. Oh my goodness, it was like having dessert before the meal! You can also buy cheese from the deli to take home. I would definitely recommend this for a light lunch.

Visiting Noah's Cheese. We were really disappointed as the platter for 2 on there Facebook page doesn't look nearly as the real platter. It wasn't bad, but if you advertise platter for 2 on fb I feel it must be the same amount of food. We even call the waiter back as there was only 1 butter knife and 1 sharp knife to check if this is a platter for 1 or 2...and he confirmed it is a platter for 2.

Noah’s cheese farm is a definite MUST to visit.. the setting is rustic and quaint with beautiful views.. the food was fantastic. We visited the deli to purchase jams as well as tomato chilli chutney which was served with our food. The owner, Danie, introduced himself and chatted with us, so friendly and accommodating.

We drove about 5km on a gravel road, but the journey to Noah's cheese was well worth it. We had a cheese tasting, and the owner made us feel at home with interesting facts behind the making of cheese and the various flavours and varieties. We even could not resist buying some unique and very tasty cheeses! A Slow Food experience for a any cheese lover.

We turned off on our way to Golden Gate to buy some cheese. The road was a challenge, think farm road after heavy rain, but they do their best to make it as good as they can. When we got there, we realized that this was not going to be a quick stop. The building is steeped in history, get the owner to tell you the story, and the artisan cheese also comes with a story. The setting is lovely, up against the flank of the lesser-known Ararat mountain. So, we settled in for a decent stop. Had the cheese platter for two, the hostess Ronel comes out to give a presentation. They have a good menu and wine collection, and the outdoor restaurant seems to be very popular. By the time we left it was getting really busy. Definitely worth the turn-off !

I have mixed feelings about our visit to Noahs cheesery. We really enjoyed the different types of cheeses and the background on each of them. However the drive to get there was challenging if you're in a passenger car. Additionally, the restaurant layout, seating area and service was not great. More so when the weather is bad and you sit with mud under your shoes.

We had an exceptional amount of rain this year and the road is badly damaged. We will be repairing it as soon as the weather allows.

I went out for a quick cheese tasting here and wow it was great. I had a homemade ice tea and my sister had an Oreo milkshake and to eat we all got the cheese tasting and it was delicious, there were a few flavours that I didn’t like and some that I loved. The one thing that I think needed some improvement was the service but really it wasn’t terrible + they had great wine according to my mom.

I'm not a cheese lover but my wife is and she reckons their variety and quality is tops. We shared a cheese variety platter. Seating outside very rustic but pleasant away from the crowds on a farm outside Clarens. A very nice experience and can be recommended.

What a lovely, quaint place! Beautiful stone building. Cheese is phenomenal and service is incredibly friendly. The dirt road on the way there isn't ideal, but you don't even notice the road on the way back because you're in such a good mood. A real hidden gem and must visit when in Clarens.
