A family get together to celebrate an 80th birthday was absolutely brilliant. Considering there was 10 of us and yes social distancing was maintained the staff involved the mixed menu selections were all cooked to perfection
hope you have a nice big wallet because this place can be quite expensive and thats just for lunch ie; burger and chips with a coke, lets say just under £20!, there are lots of other nice places to eat in the area without costing...a small fortune, such as local pubs in medomsley, and local tea rooms are lovely too.More
Visited here a few times and can not recommend this place enough. There is so much on the menu. Food was amazing, especially the liver and the service was outstanding! Served by the lovely ellise on most of the nights we visited and she was...lovely, I assume she is the manager as was always getting called from other staff needing help with something. However, one thing I would like to add is that the staff were constantly rushed off their feet and looked severely understaffed, too many young ones not knowing what to do?
Although we will be back, one of the best places we have visited in a while
Visited in the evening May 21st for a drink with friends. Nice to be back in my brother Anthony's favourite pub. Pub was clean, table was easilly found.
Had a very pleasant couple of hrs.,though noisy. Wasn't terribly good service having to shout your bar...order to staff, some of which seemed reluctant to step out from behind the bar!
For anyone who has not been, the pub is on a very steep hill, but because of that affords views across a beautiful countryside.More
Visited this evening for a family celebration. Served by two lovely girls which were friendly and attentive. Had a little problem with one meal but it was quickly resolved by one of the staff. Other than that it was a good visit for a family...meal, the girls definitely made the visit special and were so good with the little ones. Thank you - We will be back soon!More
Visited the derwent walk inn for the first time with family on the first day back and it was great! Food was good I had the cantonese chicken which was lovely. The service was outstanding! We were served by a lovely girl with blonde hair...and glasses I think I heard the other staff calling her Ellie? Amazing, she couldn't do enough for us and gave quick and prompt service 10/10. Thank you so much we will be back soon!More
No table service so had to order inside, took number but that was it in terms of bothering 're Covid. Sat outside but the only seat next to two tables of guys (8/10) obviously not from a bubble! Coughing, spitting around people eating and families....Awful and shocking lack of management.More
Cycling through to durham and aimed to stay at this "pub", they had one decent beer the rest of the drinks choice was standard fare. As we were hungry and needed to eat we asked for a menu, they had an extensive choice but it...was quite pricey, sandwiches on there own 7.50, but when you are hungry and your a captive audience in a remote area thought ok, I actually got a chip but which was 3.50, but others got spring rolls and sardines.
Food arrived, spring rolls were two only (tiny), sandwiches were not large or good quality for price. My chip but was cold and came with an additional HAIR,waitress said enjoy, and wish is said, enjoy what? Terrible quality, no value for money, a disgrace. If your planning on using this as a stop off for food. DON'T.
Good for a swift drink if your desperate, but I wouldn't give them the trade!More
