This is not a restaurant, it’s more like a canteen. Not a warm feeling especially as a ski lodge. Restaurant ran out of still water, milk, butter, chicken, croissants, pies, chicken strips, almost everything. We had no option but having chicken and mayo toasted for...three suppers. Kids ended up having toast with butter and jam. The staff were useless and didn’t know much about what the kitchen has available, so always a back and forth to check. Definitely won’t go back there, I would suggest take a self catering and carry your own food.More

Horrible service and food from start to finish. Waited for service. Had to ask for service. Food was bland and cold.

We stayed for 4 days and had all our meals at this restaurant. The menu is varied. The best meal I had was trout. The breakfast buffet is very good. In the evening there was live entertainment.

Let me start with the positive. The food was AMAZING! And plenty of it. It came to the table fast and hot. The pizza is wonderful. There isn’t anything that we had that wasn’t good! The waitstaff was very nice and attentive. Now the negative!...The manager. We arrived after skiing all day, this was our first trip to the resort, and we’re fussed at for not having a reservation. It was 4:00pm and the manager said that they would get busy at 6:00pm when reservations were required. Oookkkk…we wanted to eat at 4! When we were waiting to get inside, there was a jam up at the door. The manager said (rather brusquely to us) “Use the hand sanitizer!”. I said “We are just waiting to get in” to which he replied “Even here you need it!”. So my choice was to push through the crowd (definitely not social distancing) and squirt my hands, or leave. Maybe it was because my daughter is Chinese and we are both American? Or maybe he was overworked. I don’t know but he was really rude. We almost left.More

Stayed overnight on business trip. The Sky Restaurant was superb!!!! probably one of the best rump steaks I have tasted. Stayed in the Tyrol Lodge and the room was clean but a bit tired!!! Really expensive in the winter season but reasonable summer rates!!! beautiful...part of the world!!!More

We were at Afriski in Aug 2018 and it is cold! So the atmosphere in the restaurant is great and is definitely warm in the restaurant! The restaurant takes reservations for seating as it gets quite full. There is a bar as well which can...get busy. There is good vibe and live music - one guy plays some good classics. Breakfast can be packaged with accommodation but supper is optional. The menu is above average for both meals and prices are slightly expensive but because it is the only restaurant on the premises (there is a smaller 'restaurant' upstairs but sells "bites-on-the-go" meals). Breakfast can be served as buffet and supper is "a la carte" only; (I cannot recall if lunch is served or not because we did not have lunch). It is situated close to the resort's accommodation and is walking distance to the slope. The service was great, but on different occasions (not consistent though), based on the waiter/ess service. Generally, it is a good place to hang out with your friends.More

Our team stopped over for a meal enroute to a business presentation at one of the mines close-by. We got a hearty well presented meal and we greatly enjoyed our break. The views are majestic.

Chips are excellent and surprisingly so was the vegetables. Unfortunately Steak had to be sent back on two occasions, tooo much chili on child's burger and pasta was stodgy. Stick to the basics and you'll be fine. Take your own wine Service is erratic -...experienced both excellent and awful. Live music great idea but rather have someone who can sing or taped music !More

This is not Michelin star food. It is good wholesome food in a genuine Alpine setting (Wessel Bosman imported the whole structure from Austria) served by some fun staff and accompanied by live music nightly delivered by Lizard. We ate in the Sky Restaurant each...of the three evenings and it was a great atmosphere every evening. Drinks are reasonably priced particularly considering that everything has to be brought in from South Africa. Kanonkop Kadette was ZAR170 a bottle. Only suggestion for improvement would be a few top quality spirits ... no single malts for instance. Matt does a great job as restaurant manager. Kids enjoyed their food too. Saturday night is a buffet.More

Went as a family, was not to hungry and ordered a side plate of veg only. It was out of this world, perfectly cooked and crunchy. My husband had Wasabi mash and trout, it was very good but a bit small for the price. The...service was slow, although not busy at all. The prices was very decent for the only place to eat in the area.More

So we decided to go on a family trip to Lesotho through Sani Pass and once through made our way to Afriski. We stayed in the Maribel Lodge and can say that even though it was not snowing, we had a fabulous time. The resort...was so helpful... from the front desk assisting with a SIM card for data to the super friendly and knowledgeable Wynand who took us downhill on the roller bikes. The food at the Skybar was superb as was the local Maluti beer. The lodge was very comfortable and well suited for cold temperatures. We survived 1.5 degrees with no problem at all. The whole family enjoyed the stay tremendously and will hopefully be able to return there when it snows.More
