I have been a stern supporter of Carmien rooibos tea and believe (KNOW) that Carmien teas are the best! We stopped here twice to taste a variety of rooibos teas and bought 2 bags full of teas and goods! When travelling through the Piekenierskloof pass,...De Tol Carmien is a MUSt stop. Staff also very friendly - with Marina Nefdt at the wheel to ensure full customer satisfaction (especially when ordering items online) You will also find other items at the road stall (e.g. wines, fruit etc) Beautiful views also whilst enjoying teas and food!More

The Roosterkoeke, shady trees and GOOD coffee is worth the stop on your journey up the N7. The staff is super friendly, we ordered bacon and egg Roosterkoeke and it arrived quickly, portion and price was very satisfying, and the padstal is stocked with lots...of attractive snacks, rusks, wine, fruit and even a fridge section with good-quality meat and cheese. Loved it! Would go again.More

Great little stop on the N7 Excellent wine and tea tasting menu served under the trees. Carmien teas are full of flavor, variety and so beautifully presented. Will be back!

This was our first stop on a week long road trip with friends. What a great start! The flat read pizza-like items on the menu are the show stoppers. I also had a lovely crisp white wine. Friends had pancakes and the cheese board for...two is also highly recommended. The Carmien tea range also has a presence here - well worth a visit.More

So upset that we were too early for the fresh bread but we enjoyed the toasted chicken mayo so much. They also have flat bread which was just too delicious. The ladies are super friendly.

Lovely place with friendly staff. Good stop with the family and dogs. Biggest draw back is the quality of the coffee. Weak, over heated - kind of like drinking a cup of burnt coffee flavored milk. Wish there was just one place in the N7...with decent coffee 😞More

I understand that this venue was not that long ago taken over by the Piekenierskloof Wine company (which is situated in Citrusdal) and besides it being a great "lunch and/or breakfast stop", ....it is also the official wine tasting venue for Piekenierskloof Wines, which (so...I am told) is the market leading wine cellar in this unique wine producing area. The menu is not the largest I have come across but most items offered are not "run of the mill", but unique, very well presented, delicious and very good value for money ! I settled for the 4 wine tasting paring option which is served with generous various tappas to be enjoyed with a selection of the excellent Piekenierskloof wines with one of them having won the best Chenin Blanc (in the world) award at the London Wine exhibition ! The service was great, the venue clean with a trendy relaxing decorMore

Oe lah last what a pairing experience. Explosion of tastes! Gin and nougat pairing was the order of the day as well as speciality carmien rooibos tea and nougat. I can only say the driver of the vehicle had the tea pairing and gave it...the thumbs up! Beautiful setting in the Piekenierskloof pas. Great to visit!More

We stopped there for lunch when we arrived from Cape Town. Egg and Bacon on Roosterkoek. What a pleasure. The next day we returned after a disappointing visit to neighbouring Hebron. We enjoyed a very well presented free tea tasting experience at the Carmien Rooibos...Tea Shop. We tasted a total of 12 different hot rooibos teas and 3 cold rooibos tea drinks. We wer made so welcome and the lady put her heart into the explanation of each tea. We purchased several different teas that we most enjoyed as well as a rooibos steel teapot. The best purchase was rooibos gin with matching rooibos berry tea to use with the gin before pouring the tonic into the mix. In the future we will definitely visit De Tol again.More

The most delicious roosterkoek fresh off the fire! Plenty of fillings to choose from. Good coffees too. Unfortunately takeaway only due to lockdown, but it would be a great place to sit down next time. A good gift shop too

The main focus of this road stall/deli, is Wine and rooibos tea tasting, with some eats. Pricing is very good, with a pot of rooibos tea at only R15! Snacks are served in small boxes, with good roosterkoek!

A nice little farm Deli on your way past or before Citrusdal. If your looking for some snacks for your journey or just want to stop and relax a bit with fine gin or wine then consider De Tol. You won’t find everything there, but...more than enough for a quick pop in.More

Planned our trip from Northern Cape to Cape Town to arrive with enough time to spare before 15:00 advertised closing time. Arrived 14:10. Only to be told that kitchen is closed. Staff rude, including at Carmien tea. How quickly we forget whole hospitality industry begging...to be open, begging clients to support them. When we do, and they make a killing, no thought is spared to stay open for clients. Just - how quickly can we close and get away. Even if justifiable - is it necessary to be rude? Hospitality indeed.More
