Pili pili is a pub style restaurant just off the Breede river in Witsand . The menu is simple with some good specials , the food is good and the service is great ..relaxed friendly holiday atmosphere. The fire was warm and cozy on a chilly winter evening but I imagine the outdoor deck must buzz in summer.

Lovely view of the harbour. Very big play area for kids. Sadly the food took a very long to come. The service was okay as the restaurant had a lot of holiday makers. But could be better. The ice cream was watery and very unpleasant.

My wife Sharon and I spent a night at the Breede River Lodge in January, which was wonderful, and that evening we had supper at the on-site Pili Pili Restaurant, which was awful.
There weren't many options available for supper in Witsand on the Sunday night we stayed there, so we decided to eat at Pili Pili.
Our first observation was how pricey the food on the limited menu was, but as we had already determined that there were no other places to go, we decided to stay.
Considering that we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time, the food took quite a while to arrive, and we certainly cannot say that it was worth the wait.
I had an extremely bland vegetarian pizza, which cost a whopping R144, and Sharon had Eisbein which she described as dry, hard and tasteless. The Eisbein was served with a small soggy salad which our waitress admitted to us had been prepared earlier that morning, more than eight hours before it was served to Sharon.
Needless to say, we did not finish our food, and we did voice our complaints very strongly to our waitress, but whether she passed our comments on to the restaurant manager or not, I do not know.
But what I do know is that our first visit to Pili Pili will certainly be our last one, and based on our experience, I would definitely not recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Witsand.

I arrived before my wife and upon entering there were 3 people behind the reception desk and they all ignored me. A lady who was mopping the floor came to me and confirmed I could sit outside. When my wife arrived she was handed the menus and asked to bring them to the table, which my wife commented was sticky and needed a proper cleaning. After waiting 5 minutes or more a waitress came to us and told us we must go to the counter to order our food and go to the counter to collect our food. I'm sure they would have told us this was because of Covid, but we have eaten at many restaurants lately and get the food served at the table. That is better than exposing ourseves by going to a counter.
After all this we decided to leave as this is not a restaurant but more a serve yourself takeaway. (I must add that at 13h30 we were the only patrons)
After checking tripadviser later we realised we were probably lucky to leave without getting "served".
We were staying at the Lodge and had planned to eat there at least a couple of times, but we certainly won't be going back.

Covid definitely sent this one down the tubes , if you want to have drinks and a view then this venue is awesome. Ordering food is challenging and the service staff are poorly trained with no visible management. All the food is served in takeaway containers and the menu is very limited.

We really enjoyed their milkshakes. Usually we enjoy an sit down lunch at Pili Pili, this time we were in an hurry and were pleased to find out they offer take away milkshake options. The staff were also informative and able to assist with recommendations.

Ownership has recently changed, and things have sadly deteriorated very badly since then.
Service is absolutely terrible and completely disorganized.
We ordered seafood, and it arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes later and it was cold. We returned our food, paid for our drinks and left.
Managements attitude was terrible.

In a word the unit 409 assigned to us wast disgusting. TV did not work, bathroom full of mold, cobwebs and just filthy. Door could not lock, and was difficult to open, cupboards falling apart. I did complain about it and I was told that it is privately owned. Not good enough, surely the resort upholds some sort of standard after all it is their reputation at stake. The restaurant Pili Pili was wonderful though.

Had a breakfast there this morning. The omelets were great but the manageress were very pushy and loud for starters. The wine list is extremely expensive and so are the food. We sat inside just to be surprised that the manageres "doctors" a "pasient" at the table next to us and loudly "educate" the patient about cuts, organs, exct. This all while we are trying to eat. We could not enjoy our food in a relaxing atmosphere and yes while eating she used first aid material full of blood on the table next to us. So sorry for the next person sitting at that table in this restaurant. The rest of the staff were either also just as loud or very much quite, there is a very noticeable conflict situation among the staff. We paid and left as fast as possible. On our way out two elderly ladies also made a comment about the unprofessional manageress.

Relaxed setting with an amazing view of the Breede river. They run daily specials and had some wonderful artists performing there. It is worthwhile following them on Facebook.

Good place to refuel yourself. Chilled and relaxed venue, good service and good food. Cold beers and an assortment of drinks and cocktails. This is not fine dining but then it was never meant to be. Take your mates and go chill out. Breathe the fresh air and admire the views across the river. All in all a great place to let yourself relax.
