Calm tranquil terrace near the river. Wonderful 8 course tasting menu with the most delicious wine. A great way to spend an evening...just fabulous.

Le Restaurant De Chames proposes high quality cuisine much as you might expect in a one star Michelin restaurant. The dishes were well presented and were tasty and original. We dined on the terrace, which affords a picture-postcard view of the cliffs of the Gorge...of Ardèche. What let the restaurant down was the lonnnnnggg wait between courses (exactly three hours from the time we arrived to the time we left). We opted for an eight course menu (options were 5, 8 and 11). Bear in mind that we had two amuse-bouches whch counted as two courses. The other courses were (as expected) very small and light, and that was fine because, at the end, it added up to one meal. Wines were chosen by the owner and served by the glass (about 10cl each) so our regulation three glasses, didn't go very far! Service was pleasnt and the staff were knowledgeable but, as I say, the long wait between course became almost unacceptable. With a bill approching €200 for two people, I expected better. Pity, because this could easily have been a five star review otherwise.More

Chef has a few dishes tailored to market availability and then he has an « eyes closed » offering where you don’t know what the entrée, plat and dessert are. I took one of the former and my husband the latter. What fun! It did make wine...selection interesting so the server helped make a selection from the Ardèche. Don’t be shy about the local wine. It is outstanding. It is overshadowed by its famous neighbors (Cote du Rhône and Chateauneuf du Pape) but don’t let that stop you. Reservations recommended even for two people. As with most of France, reservations serve as a way to gauge attendance in the smaller venues and it is part tradition to have your table ready just for you.More

This is an institution. Absolutely fabulous, the dishes are inventive, superbly presented and absolutely delicious. Service is amazing and very friendly. The setting is great - right by the river. If you are in the area and are looking for a good (better to say...- great) restaurant, look no further.More

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The staff were extremely attentive to us. The menu changes on a weekly basis as they use local produce some of which they grow. We took our two children 6 and 8 years and although they don’t have a children’s...menu they made the girls smaller plates of what we had. We chose the 48 euro pp menu, it was really nice and in each course they gave us different wines that complimented the dish. Would thoroughly recommend this place.More

We called ahead to let the chef know, that we are both vegetarian, which was apparently no problem. Our expectations were more than met. All the dishes were beautifully prepared; the vegetables came fresh from the restaurant garden; plus a truly romantic setting. We will...come back.More

A perfect relaxed lunch. We had both the set menu and the alacarte. At 32 euro the set menu is excellent value. The flavours and presentation were superb. Service was informed and helpful. Highly recommended.

We were staying nearby and this restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel and what a wonderful surprise! The food was delicious and also artistically presented on the plate. There is a selection of wine by the glass to accompany the food and very...useful it is because one is obliged to drive there because the roads are not pedestrian friendly. In warm weather one may enjoy aperitifs and food on the riverside terrace shaded by trees! A lots of the trimmings are home grown and fresh! English speaking staff are charming. A wonderful place!More
