Interesting old place. Both service and food were good. At the back there's an interesting garden with a pool you can actually swim in. The main bar still allows smoking (which was a delight as an Englishman), and there's a pleasant balcony at the front. Parking is easy.

We stopped over for breakfast and browsing through the valley. Very cool. Ordered choice of eggs Benedict which were beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients. Service was friendly and unhurried, a touch just off the often beaten track.

Thank you for the great review. We try make our breakfasts for the passing traffic as memorable as possible. Eggs Benedict is one of the more recent additions in our 185 year history, and is proving popular. We look forward to your return visit. Perhaps Xmas in July? More

A beautiful historic setting with lovely atmosphere. Affordable pub menu starting with a breakfast menu, light lunches and even a Sunday lunch. Service can be improved as 2 waitresses are not enough on a busy Saturday. Food was tasty but average

Hi Bruce, thank you for your great review. We try to present "farmers portions" of good quality upmarket pub food. I really hope you had the Lemon Meringue, it's great! If not maybe next time. We look forward to your return visit. Perhaps for the Bathurst Country Affair in August, a great food and drink fair. More

Trip down memory lane. The best Lamb & Mint pot pie I have ever had. Good value for money and a big heart!

We stayed overnight at the Historic Pig and Whistle and our room was lovely. A big kingsize 4 poster bed and the bath was too beautiful. Lots of antique furniture reminded me of a bygone era. Had the most delicious pot pie in the pub with lovely flaky puff pastry croutons. Definitely worth a stay and a meal

Thank you for the wonderful review Sharon. We refurbished our rooms about 2 years ago, but retained the vintage feel of our 185 year old treasure. The puff pastry croutons were our new chef's invention and we are getting really good feedback. We look forward to hosting you again. Christmas in July is looming as well as the National Arts... I had lunch at this historic pub recently. The food was really average, if not disappointing. The lamb pot pie had no crust! The malva pudding was cold and clearly pre-heated - the custard was freshly made and delicious though. I'm not too sure how clean the table cloths were, but the view from the veranda was lovely overlooking the... More

We enjoyed a pub lunch at the Pig and Whistle. The home-made burgers were excellent and the chips really crispy and delicious. Good value for money. Being a Saturday, and at lunch-time, the waitrons were kept really busy, so we had to wait a while for service, but the meal made up for it.
