My wife and I were at Homespun on Saturday, 11 May for dinner. The fine dining experience we had at Homespun was really wonderful. The service of the lady who explained to us the items on the menu at each instance is to be commended. Apart from that, the food itself is at a really high level with an explosion of flavours in your mouth.
Personally, I enjoyed that little experience of the Electric Daisy which made the evening even more special because it was a fun one to have such an interesting feeling on the tongue. I loved everything on the menu and Homespun is really value for money. Nevertheless, I have a small preference for the agnelotti which was amazing. With each spoon of the agnelotti, you have such a variety of flavours which are really good. Maybe the fish was not totally up to our expectation but was nevertheless good.
As a humble suggestion, a stronger lighting is welcome. Though, I guess the dimmed light is part of the style of the restaurant, for us, our personal preference would have been stronger lighting to enjoy fully the view of the items on the plates. However, this is just our personal opinion and that did not distract us from having a wonderful time at the restaurant.
To sum up, Homespun is fine dining with value for money. It is a must try experience which you will fully enjoy. Do not get distracted by the environment of the restaurant. As soon as you start tasting the food, you will be in a completely different world and you would love it.

Were fortunate to get a reservation from the hostess who notified us of a cancelation. She was so persistent in calling us to get us in and we really appreciated it.
Very talented chef with a very creative menu. It is many courses with two choices for each course. Really enjoyed it. I had the duck main course and my husband had the steak for the other main, delicious.
This is a 2 hour dining experience with great South African local wines paired with each course. Very enjoyable. A definite try if in Blouberg.

What a delicious food Matt serves here. You would never expect such a restaurant in Blouberg. All dishes (we took the 5 course menu) were delicious and surprising. We are used to the good restaurants in Cape Town and Fransschoek, but this restaurant has the same culinary level. We wish Matt (by the way a very nice man) good luck with his restaurant. Be advised to book in advance.

Last night a friend and I visited my favourite local fine dining restaurant, Homespun by Matt in Blouberg, to taste the food of the new executive chef Roche’! What a beautiful experience. This dynamic young man put his own spin on the original Homespun dishes. The presentation is elegant , stylish and unpretentious. Our dishes Caprese goats cheese, crispy gammon percorino orange sweet potato were yummy!! He really has showcased a lot of skill, great flavour combinations and good control. These flavours definitely pack a punch!! The service was attentive and slick in the true Homespun style!! Big thank you to Flo and the fantastic team for a beautiful evening!! Chef Roche’ you definitely rock your beauty!! I am looking forward to my next visit!!

My wife and I booked a table at Homespun on the last day of our trip to South Africa. The only seats available were on the counter next to the window, but it didn't really matter. Surrounded by fast foods, sports bars, and pizzerias, Homespun really stands out. You don't really expect to find such quality in a place like this. Homespun's formula is a 5-course tasting menu with 2 or 3 options for the starter, the main course, and the dessert. This allowed us to try almost everything. As with all tasting menus, you end up preferring one or the other course, but everything was well prepared, very creative, tasty, and with top-quality ingredients. Special mentions to the beef and to the chef's interpretation of the cheesecake. Professional, smiling, friendly, and efficient service. The wine list is only made up of South African wines, but with a broad selection. Maybe high by local standard prices get very reasonable when expressed in euros or sterling. At 67 £ for 2 persons (including a glass of wine and a cocktail), that's a remarkable value for money. Homespun is definitely a must-go in a trip to Cape Town.

Homespun is an institution and has since opened another restaurant in Claremont at the Andros Hotel. This venue is far more fancy and appropriate for the level of fine dining you will experience.
We were at their Blouberg venue which is very underwhelming from outside belying the feast you will experience inside .
We did the 4 course menu which is exceptional. Every course feels like you are at a magic show as some dishes literally move whilst others are hidden in shells and some appear from the smoke .
The cocktail menu is a must too .
Detailing the dishes would spoil the surprises . You must experience this amazing culinary gem on your own .

Same menu for more than one year, most probably two years, tough, low grade meat, dusty decorations, all in all a tacky feeling. Too much senseless babbling by waitrons. Too many flavours on one plate. The original chef has opened another venue and clearly neglects his original enterprise.
Canned corn was also part of the one dish! Not fine dining at all!
There is nothing that will attract me back. Has become just another Chinese Decorated, tacky place. A matter of B_ll___t baffles brains. The place can do with a good dusting and cleanup.

What an experience. If one highlight follows the next, then this is the place to be. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and you couldn't stop being amazed. The presentation of the food was unique. The food was so delicious. The team made it a wonderful evening and were very competent. It was simply fun. Perfect evening.

For us, Homespun was the best restaurant during our entire trip to South Africa!
We have had dinner at many different fine dining restaurants (perhaps with better known names) but for us this was outstanding.
The combination of excellent food, a great location and the amazing and lovely service was perfect.
We opted for the tasting menu with the half glass wine-pairing. BTW: what a great idea to offer 1/2 glass wine pairing and it was also possible to only get white wine pairing. Such an offer cannot be taken for granted.
The Menu was truly amazing - every single course was such a taste explosion and the wine pairing fitted perfectly!
Thank you so much for this experience and a great evening. Next time we will definitely come back!

This was a five star evening, no ifs and no buts. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, everything the other positive reviews have said, and more. We had a ten days holiday in the Cape area, and this was without doubt the best meal we had - amongst many very good ones! The highlight of our holiday. We splashed out on the wine tasting three course menu and food and wine were just superb. We were so lucky to get in, as we didn't try to book till the day. Our advice is - book in advance. We were exceptionally lucky to have the benefit of a conversation with the proprietor (Matt?) who was kind enough to explain to my wife in detail how her coeliac requirements were being met. his enthusiasm was infectious and the wonderful ingredients were sensational. If you have time and resources, go to Homespun. Its worth saving up for!

5 of us, first time visit.
We sat in a booth, it was cramped and uncomfortable.
The staff were excellent and soon moved us at our request.
We shared the tasting menu, it was very good.
This is certainly fine dining, our only reservation was, the venue wasn't what we expected, more like a cafe's.
Somehow for that price with wine R4000. We would have expected different.
However we all enjoyed it, but not sure we would go again.

Friends and I, visited my favourite rustic fine dining restaurant in Blouberg last night!! They definitely have not lost their special touch. I enjoyed my prawn dumplings which was yummy as usual. The humble hake fish was elevated to a new status!! It was well cooked. Soft, juicy and flakey. All the Japanese infused flavours were amazing! All elements on the plate worked in harmony!! This is sublime cooking!! My friends enjoyed the duck and Matt special which were extremely yummy!! The service was sleek attentive but not intrusive!! Thank you beautiful people for a wonderful evening

The most outstanding restaurant in Capetown area. EVERYTHING about this restaurant was magical, delicious, beautiful and beyond special. We felt privileged to be the beneficiary of the chef’s creative and mouth watering and aesthetically beautiful offerings. And the staff was wonderful, enthusiastic and delighted to be sharing the restaurant’s treasures with us.

We drove about 20 minutes from Cape Town to the restaurant. At first we thought we were in the wrong place. The restaurant doesn't fit in at all with the surroundings and the other stores. Then inside of the restaurant is very nice. We were warmly welcomed and brought to our table. The waitress was very nice, but very artificially friendly and too overexcited. She could be more natural and less hyper. The menu and wines were fantastic. An unforgettable experience.
