Beautiful view but: the food was abysmal! Oyster were off and returned (this was gracefully accepted),; the rice second hand (i.e. heated up?) and charged for separately; calamari swimming in grease; prawns just passable. Waitron didn't pay attention - long, long delays in service and...little useful communication; manager called out from hiding under the bar? (or so it seemed) a number of times - although very apologetic about the problems. The wait for a straight forward ; order for four people was an hour and a half and the drinks - no decent vodka, no lemon/lime margaritas and only one of the 3 choices of daiquiris only one available after ordering the other two! G & Ts were ok (cant really go wrong) and the chips were quite good. Another challenge was that there was no appropriate lighting outside. We have happily visited before but wont be back soon. Such a pity. Sorry folks but you really have to up your game on all fronts. Used to be a reliable seafood restaurant for a celebration now you would be better off at a much cheaper chain.More
I come here often. I mostly eat the Paella as it is tasty and they know how to make it. Best views ever.
Dinner at On the Rocks was a good experience. Oysters as starter were fresh and plump, interesting relishes to accompany. Paella for both of us was top. Did not skimp on anything, prawns, calamari, mussels, chorizo etc. Large selection of wine by the glass. Pleasant...service. Cool sunset view.More
This place is fabulous. The setting is hard to beat, right on the sea edge with views back to Cape Town, Table Mountain and out to Robben Island and the food exceeded expectations. We had some very good breakfast bowls right on the cusp of...lunchtime service starting and the food came promptly and was tasty, interesting and properly seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive. We will be back!More
I had the Jonkershuis breakfast our waitress was good but the breakfast was not as the pork belly had so much fat on it an my avo was rock hard as I sent it back. The manager did nothing an no check back on the...tables only thing that's nice was the view.More
Been there twice to make sure About my experience and both times the food was dreadful! People rave about it but I think they fail to separate the food and quality as they are blinded by the view. Please stop ripping people off and get...a decent chef. So annoyed.More

We were invited to a birthday breakfast. The setting is magnificent, but the food and service disappointing. Breakfast arrived almost an hour after ordering. My Eggs Benedict was served not on a traditional English muffin but on bread. That I could have dealt with, but...a tomato sauce had been spread on the bread, turning it into a soggy cold mass. The eggs which I had specifically asked to be soft-centered were both hard, as were my friends. I suspect the hollandaise sauce was synthetic but I could be wrong. I know that cappuccinos are meant to be served cooler, but when they finally arrived ours were plain cold. Then the milk in the coffees was off .... A few other guests had complaints about the food. So I'd go back for the view, but not the food.More

A fantastic view of Table Mountain and Robben Island It was a fantastic summers day and I took myself for lunch just north of Cape Town. A splendid view of Table Mountain and Robben Island on the deck with with courteous, knowlegdable and efficient staff....It was a well worth spent 2 hours hosted by friendly staff. Well worth the trip on such a lovely day. Food and drink prices very good indeed too. The restaurant is "semi hidden" so do look out for it. It is WELL WORTH the visit. ENJOYMore

We booked table for dinner. Manager didn’t say us that another guests will celebrate birthday in restaurant the same evening. We got table next to big noisy company. We could not speak each other. It was terrible. Restaurant’s acoustics is very bad. We felt like...in metal box. Our neighbors came to restaurant and left after a few minutes. We should to join them. By the way, we could not see ocean because our table was next to wall. Our “view” were big noisy company. Food was not tasty. We ordered 3 starters and only one was tasty. For example, prawn salad had only 2 prawns and a lot green. For main course we ordered big seafood platter. It was big mistake. Calamari was extremely spicy, fish is dry, mussels with strange sauces and I even couldn’t eat prawns. Bottle of wine was only one good part of that dinner. I ordered Strawberry daiquiri because it was with strawberry pure in cocktail’s menu. But i got cocktail with chemical taste and color... We were very upset because we came from Cape Town especially for dinner. It was big disappointing. We wasted our time and money.More
