this was a lovely place- to eat and look out on to the farm, I loved the sound of the birds in the garden and it was spick and span

We were told this would be the last meal served by the restaurant. Over the years we have delighted in coming here for dinner and enjoyed every experience. There was no denying that the food had gone off this time and the choice was limited. It was still good but not up to the old standards. It's such a shame.

We were visiting the area and dropped by last Thursday lunchtime without a reservation - no problem for Charlene who looked after us wonderfully. Great hospitality, excellent food and overall a marvelous experience - thank you.

We were so looking forward to our lunch at Nacht Wacht last Sunday, as I had read good reviews and also that the owner and chef Melanie was very hands on in the restaurant. Unfortunately, she wasn't present last Sunday, but neither was anyone else and we were the only diners. There is no background music or ambient noise in this restaurant, so we couldn't help but hear the staff in the kitchen, their cellphones ringing and (ominously) the seemingly incessant pings of a microwave. However, we are very open minded and love food, so we were looking forward to a good lunch. This notion was sadly dashed when my husband's Caprese salad was served microwaved (with large amounts of steam still coming off it) with melted Mozzarella on warmed tomatoes. I honestly have never seen a Caprese salad warmed up (never mind microwaved). My mussel soup was hot in places and cold in others (again, microwaved) and very clunky. We waited for a very long time for the dirty plates to be cleared and not once was our wine poured. The restaurant positions itself as a fine-dining one and, since we were the only diners, I had expected a much higher level of service. Our main course took an hour from ordering to being served at the table. I have no idea why. My roast lamb was tasteless and again, steam was coming off it, which doesn't happen if you have roasted this - you have to microwave it to get this. At R185, I was extremely disappointed. My husband's chicken pasta however was inedible. The pasta was so overcooked and gluggy and the chicken tough and without any seasoning, that he couldn't eat it. Another lady came out of the kitchen to ask how our meal was and we gave her our honest feedback. Whilst we were still telling her our opinion, she turned and walked away. The chicken was not charged for, but this experience was just such a poor one, that was not the point. We are happy to pay for good food and service, but we just felt completely let down here.

On our way to Arniston we found a special treat. The Nacht Wacht restaurant tucked away off the main road offered delicious options and variety on their menu from lighter options to more substantial meals. Lovely decor and calm setting where sometimes the cows will graze close by to add to the tranquility of the establishment.

We made reservation for valentines evening. We were met by friendly staff. We dont think there was made any extra effort for the occasion. The evening was nice and the menu seems to be the standard one. The rack of lamb was expensive and a bit disappointed regarding softness. The cheese cake is lovely.

Our group were welcomed with enthusiasm by the owner and her farmer husband. Took us on a beautiful walking tour of the historical farm. We ate a very nicely selected menu - cheese and suurvykonfyt with home made breads folled by a mussle bisque soup, rack of lamb and malva pudding!

Very good and enjoyable short drive from Bredasdorp on the road to Arniston and enjoyed the good food with the peaceful country setting away from the city rush.Don't be in a hurry, relax then you can enjoy every moment . Please make sure if they are open . Lamb chops and cheesecake recommended. I had my 70th birthday party at Nacht Wacht Restaurant for 20 people . Very special .

Not a big menu, but delicious and catering for different tastes. I can recommend the chicken wrap. Peaceful setting with a lovely view - lucern fields, big trees. Not always open, due to private occasions, so first make sure if you can visit.

We popped in for lunch the setting is really scenic overlooking the corn fields, the restaurant setting is modern yet country. There is an art gallery in the old stables. We all had lamb rack which was delicious. A definite must do whilst in the area.

Food is always good. Small menu that caters for everyone. Also visit the art gallery. It is well worth the drive from Bredasdorp to visit the restaurant.

Lunch at the Nacht Wacht was enjoyable and relaxing a few days after Xmas. The table garden-salad for 6 was good, but pricey at R240. The main courses were all fine, though the meat tended to be more well done than ordered. The wine list is adequate, but more local wines would have been pleasing, and our first choice ran out after one bottle. Service was very helpful and sufficiently attentive. We were happy we went there for lunch, but some details could improve.

We ate here, but first a discovery trip to locate the place, it is along the regional road and nu number, so a GPS is useless. Once found by using Google Maps (its on Nacht Wacht Farm) a small discovery tour on the farm awaits and you are rewarded by the location there at the restaurant ! Superb view, total silence and great tastefully decorated restaurant room. we ate Biltong Carpaccio, rack of lamb, Yellowfin fish from Struisbaai, all wonderful ! This was one of the nicest meals I had in a while. small point of improvement, ensure that the well selected small wine list is also 100% available ...
